Take a look at this unique project we completed recently. Before is an image of an old 120/240 Volt 60 Amp service entrance. The after image is our upgrade to 200 Amp. The biggest challenge with this was that the house was in Flood zone. After working with the local codes office, we were able to come up with a cost-effective option for the customer so they could get their service upgraded while meeting the requirements for flood zone. You will notice the use of a combination meter base and disconnect. This is a very common and cost-effective way of doing an overhead service upgrade. Our area recently switched to the NEC 2020 edition which requires all residential dwellings have an exterior disconnect along with a surge protection device. In this scenario, however, all the branch circuits and breaker panel needed moved from the basement all the way up to the second floor based on the flood survey. All the branch circuits were extended in PVC conduit as seen in the after image to a new 40 space panel on the second floor. Every projects has its challenges, but our goal is to give our customers the safest option while remaining cost effective. We go the extra mile for our customers! Do you need power for your new garage, campsite, or new equipment? This image shows a new utility pole and a new 120/240 Volt 200 Amp single phase service entrance we did in Jersey Shore, PA. Notice the disconnect is combined with the meter base? This is a great option for a remote service entrance like this so you can easily run branch circuits for whatever types of equipment you want to power in that area. It has 8 spaces to work with. The only branch circuit right now for this service is the LED flood lights to brighten up the area for work, but there is still room for plenty more circuits. The heart of your homes electrical system is the main breaker panel. It’s important to make sure it’s in good shape and working properly. Take a look at this image. You’ll see there is major corrosion in this panel and it will cause issues in the homes electrical system. This needs to be addressed as soon as it can be. We are not alone when we say we are ready for winter to end and spring to begin. Although this winter has been long and cold, we are still out working for our customers every day providing quality electrical contracting services. One thing we are constantly out working on is service calls for residential home owners and landlords. Take a look at this video that one of our guys took while repairing a circuit breaker that was arcing.
