A back story of how Regenerative Retrofits came to be.

May the Fourth be with us & another project in the books to start the year. This client wanted to redesign a backyard space overrun with vines and weedy plants in precious real estate. We had a smaller budget and made a huge impact of the area building a beautiful hügelkultur raised bed pollinator garden. Clearing the site, then doing a sheet mulching technique to suppress the vegetation from below and using some home-grown compost from the bins onsite. The bees and bugs were buzzing after these perennial pollinator plants were getting watered in. It was a glorious day in the dirt, making spaces beautiful for the world.

Regenerative Retrofits first big project of the year is kicking off the spring right. This client has a garden space in another area that was too wet, too shaded and not a lot of happy plants growing because of it. We have been working together to plan out the best design for years to come.

This hillside is steep! It is also in full sun and we moved a lot of dirt and rocks to magically build these raised beds into a terraced planting area. Sometimes you have to dig down to build up and there are going to be some pretty happy veggies going in next month!

It's not always about the rocks and limitations of a space that create the cage to stop you from achieving your dreams...it's how you use those limiting factors and abundant yields of obstacles to navigate your direction to grow beyond their abilities to hold you back. Let that sink in and reframe your vision so you rise beyond the restrictions and start building up in this world together!

Spring Work Inspiration

Had the opportunity to build a pretty sweet industrial style railing around a staircase with a natural flare. Using rebar for the uprights and a Sapele hardwood as the top finish. I'd say it turned out pretty sweet and a nice oil really made that African wood pop!
