This is an amazing grove of western red cedars. Most are well over 6 feet in diameter and150 feet tall. We are so fortunate to have these protected areas to enjoy and explore.

This drainage is very rough. A tangle of sharp talus and downed timber due to fire as well as high wind. It is recovering though and soon the high peaks will be hidden from the trail.

There are many places like this in the west. Where long open meadows and high elevation parks lead to thick forests. Always a sense of what the forested edge might hold.
