Last week I made a visit to Western Elementary in Flossmoor, IL. This project consists mainly of adding AC (air conditioning) to 2 schools that they previously did not have.

The crew had just finished up the new mechanical room and it really was a thing of beauty. A clean and efficient layout and the pressed copper connections made short work of this room. More pics to follow of the chillers and unit ventilators as they wrap things up over the next few weeks.

The quality of work and craftsmanship of our field crews never ceases to amaze me. This was from a recent site visit @ Saratoga School in Morris IL. The project consists of a summer renovation of existing school (approx 50%) as well as several large additions. We are handling both the HVAC @ Plumbing portions of this challenging but fun project. More pics to follow in the next few weeks.

A recent site visit up to Lake Behavioral in Waukegan showed the results of a very productive couple of weeks for our crew. Appears that the BIM process was a success and is now beginning to produce results. The coring is now completed, starter fittings all set, PVC risers for storm drainage and the sanitary W&V on floors 2 through 4. I’m excited for my next visit in a few weeks to see hangers and domestic water mains.

One of the challenging projects we are tasked with this summer is a total renovation 25+ washrooms at Thornridge HS in approximately 8-9 weeks. This is a ton of work to get done in a very short amount of time especially considering all the different trades involved.

Last we took a big step towards this goal and with prefabrication now well underway. These craftsmen putting in the work now will have us ahead on schedule on this project come June.

We are planning to have about 85% of the washrooms fabricated, piped, tested and insulated approximately 2 weeks before the first wrench is turned onsite. I am anxious to see this job come together.

Good tips heading into extreme weather

Finishing up another project for the summer season, this is Millenium Elementary School in Tinley Park that we completed for Henry Brothers with the help of our team of subcontractors (Crowther Sheetmetal, ABC Insulation, Precision Controls).

This project was unique in many ways including many challenges. It was a 2 summer renovation, last year included the exterior classrooms unit ventilators, new boilers, pumps, chillers, etc.

This summer we had the task of changing the interior classrooms (vertical unit vents) and both elevated machine rooms featuring 5 new custom AHU’s and 2 rebuilt / renovated AHU’s as well.

I was only able to get pics of the mechanical rooms as the kids are now back in session, but I think this is the best example to showcases the overall coordination & teamwork that all trades put into a project like this. Great work to all involved.

It’s been a busy year and an even busier summer.

Doing a site visit this morning @ Silver Oaks Mental Health facility in New Lenox, IL. This is a project for Reed Construction and it is running full steam ahead towards on-time (or even early) completion and will be wrapping up in the next few months.

I couldn’t help but notice the exceptional work our crew is doing in the mechanical room. So often we move on the next job without taking a few seconds to really appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into a project like this. Well done team!

When the task is to install more than 300’ of 4” copper water main through Providence Catholic High School during winter break to accommodate the new cafeteria addition. The work was complete in only a few days, with great quality, all tie ins are made and ready for insulation ahead of schedule. Solid work.

I was at Millenium Elementary School in Tinley Park today for an unrelated issue, but I had to visit the boiler room just to see the new heating system in operation. Always satisfying to see the culmination of a great tradesman, suppliers & subcontractors. Well done team!

Some photos from Liberty Cold Storage in Bolingbrook that we are doing with one of our longstanding customers UISC. The crew is doing excellent work. Great project with a great team of people.
