Recently a customer reached out to us, needing three dedicated receptacle circuits installed. Two indoors and one outdoors. Also the customer wanted two separate 240 volt circuits installed for two electric kiln ovens. One smaller wattage oven and another larger wattage oven. The flush mount plugs for both were industrial rated, exceeding the required wattage needed and were wired to manufacturer's specs. Both oven plugs were also rated to operate for extended periods of 12 hours or more at a time. Quality electricians, know better than this! Backstabbing is taboo and the wrong way loop direction around screw terminals, is a rookie mistake. Why continue with doing something wrong, when you know it's wrong. Backstabbing and wrong loop direction can cause loose connections and potential fire. Look at all the fires, that have been started, from backstabbed devices.
I've been reworking a home, built just in 2020, with every receptacle and switch, with almost every receptacle and switch in the whole house being backstabbed. Why? Just for speed and cost savings. Why take the liability risk! Just quit backstabbing! I'm not talking about the new style devices that the screw lug tightens down on wire, but the old school version. People's lives depend on our quality of work, so let's get it right and keep loved ones safe.
