Its Day 3 of National Trench Safety Week and today we look at the most common way Minger protects its employees in the trenches and that is trench boxes!

Here Minger crews installed a trunk sanitary sewer up to depths of 41 ft deep by subcutting the top 25 ft of soil and then utilizing stacked trench boxes to get to the remaining depth to install the sanitary pipe.

Its Day 2 of National Trench Safety Week!

Today our shoring of choice is liner plate. Minger utilizes liner plate shoring when conditions are tight and there isnt a lot of room to spare. It is installed by excavating in the middle of the excavation and installing curved metal plates from the bottom that are bolted together. This allows you to protect yourself as you excavate down. This picture shown was for a 35 ft deep watermain riser pit in downtown Minneapolis.

Its that time of year again! National Trench Safety Week. Just like last year we will use the next 5 days to show you the different methods we use to protect our employees and surrounding infrastructure.

Day 1 we have a combination of a slide shoring and sheeted excavation for a jacking pit. This type of system was utilized because of 4 incoming and outgoing pipes that Minger crews tunneled.

Fusion Friday!

Minger crews recently tackled a challenging pipe installation, that may have looked simple on paper. Yes it was only 12' of pipe to install, but at 32' deep and fighting 27' of groundwater, we overcame and didnt give up and got the job done! Thank you to our dewatering partner for helping us get the job done!
