Before and after of a recent basement finish we completed. 2025 is booked full, but if you’re looking for a future project in 2026 give us a call and we would be happy to work up some numbers!

I debated back and forth on the value of sharing this, and decided to go ahead. This is a glimpse of a 2,600sqft basement finish we are completing. Why is there mudding over paint you may ask…. Well I did a subpar job on drywall finish, which didn’t stand out until the paint was applied and dried. Matter of fact it was my customer who pointed it out. With humbling egg on my face I had to look at her, validate her concerns, and agree it looked terrible. Why do I share this, to remind everyone that we are human too and make mistakes from time to time. We get caught in the hustle and bustle of deadlines, schedules, etc and rush things that shouldn’t be rushed. We aren’t all perfect. However admitting the mistake and making the corrections to fix it is what defines an honest contractor. Sure it added a bunch of work to my plate, but the customer deserves to receive what they pay for, regardless of the extent of the work. She was promised a beautiful basement and a beautiful basement she will get. Thankfully she’s a kind understanding soul.

Tonight we wrapped up a bathroom renovation. This master bath is roughly 480sqft. After demo we located a significant damaged area of the subfloor below the shower due to a leak. Subfloor was repaired, floor was leveled throughout, electrical updated to modern LED, exhaust fan with Bluetooth speaker ( because who doesn’t love jamming out in the shower), Carrara Marble through out including shower, trim updated, vanity updated, freestanding tub with freestanding faucet, built in hidden storage as well as open shelving, and a fresh coat of paint. Shout out to the Halls for allowing us to turn their concept into completion.

Finished up a custom walking closet this evening with the wife beside me. We don’t get to work on these projects together much with her busy schedule, however always happy to have her there keeping my crazy in check. Thanks to the Baileys for entrusting us to put another concept together for you. I hope y’all love it.

Recent Laundry/Mud room completed. Even simple face lifts are worth the investment. Removed old flooring, added a layer of luan to level the floor to the adjoining rooms, made several drywall repairs, and wrapped it up with fresh paint on ceiling/walls/trim, and a quality vinyl floor. We will be adding cabinetry and shelving over top of the laundry system and a fresh coat of paint on the door in the near future.

Finishing out 2024 strong. Here’s a recent one, and last for 2024 for us to wrap up. Back in November we were contacted by this property owner due to some reservations pertaining to the current contractors work. Unfortunately they had all the rights to be concerned. So we fixed up the rough in problems, they already had a drywall contractor lined up so they asked us to come back after the drywall was done to finish out the rest of the project. Unfortunately again they had some issues with the drywall contractor so we decided to go into contract early so I could advocate and mitigate accordingly for them. This project started at the beginning of June and finally around the 10th of December the drywall (after a very indulging conversation with the drywall contractor) was moderately ready for paint. This addition was added on for their declining health parents to move in. So we told them we will have it move in ready by Christmas. They were a little skeptical but we rocked it out. It was long days and hard work, however the end result is beautiful. Thanks to the Bailey’s for entrusting us to turn your concept into completion, and we look forward to your future projects you’re already booking for in the future! Yes there’s more to come.

The wife is Christmas shopping with the girls so let’s build some Stonecoatcountertops.com counter tops for this current job. I think these may be my favorite ones we’ve built yet.

This week we wrapped up a kitchen for one of our multi-contract customers. Right before thanksgiving we started what was supposed to be a simple cabinet upgrade. However after we started demolition we found old k**b and tube wiring supplying the kitchen. As demo continued it was discovered that the walls were plaster and lath which had been spot patched with drywall, however the cabinets were build in at the time of construction so there was bare framing behind those. As demo continued it was discovered the balloon framed exterior wall had no insulation. It was decided at this point the safest measure was to do a complete gut, and start from scratch. This home not only received a face lift, but new electric, and plumbing. A three way switch and wafer lights added to the “breezeway” new drywall, cabinets, counter tops and trim. We opened the wall between the kitchen and dining area to give a more spacious feel, which required a double LVL beam to be placed as the wall was the original structures exterior load bearing wall. Although the plans changed Brooke is always wonderful to work with. Can’t wait to tackle her next project! As always thanks for letting us “Turn your concept into completion”.

Stay tuned for our next couple of projects coming up, including a home addition, a modern bathroom upgrade, and a basement renovation! If you’re looking for someone to complete your 2025 home project look us up soon. Our calendar is filling fast!

I’m going to share this again. Unfortunately we are seeing it much more frequently. Even if our schedule doesn’t match yours, I will be more than happy to come help walk you through how the process should go. What to expect, and consult questions along the way. If your contractor is evasive on your questions that should be a big red flag. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes. It’s how we handle those mistakes that defines our ethics! The goal is to make your plan as close to your dream as we can. I always use the line “I’ll only have to see it for 30 days, you’ll have to live with it for the next 30 years”. So, even though I will help guide you it’s still your project. Your opinion not only matters, it’s the premise of the entire project.

This is why we never plan for “easy jobs”. This was supposed to be a simple kitchen facelift. As we began cabinet demolition we noticed first off the plaster and drywall patch job done a number of years ago wasn’t going to be conducive with the new layout. Further demo just kept pushing us down a hole. As you note this is an early 20th century home built somewhere around the turn of the century. Balloon frame construction with no exterior insulation. Further investigation reveals active k**b and tube wiring supplying over half the kitchen. None of this was in the original plans, yet one thing we don’t do is scab projects. So here we are two days into demo on what should have been a three day job. 😂😂🤪
