We just got back from 10 days in Peru and I honestly don't even know where to start....

We walked over 100 miles and saw so many different landscapes, all of them beautiful in completely different ways. Mountains, ruins, turquoise lakes, valleys that don't look real. I kept thinking someone had already painted all of it.

It wasn't just the scenery either. The people and the way of life over there are humbling in a way I wasn't prepared for. It makes you realize how much we have that we don't even think about.

As an artist, being surrounded by that much color everywhere you look is a lot to take in. I'm already thinking about how to work some of it into my paintings.
Also, the dogs in Peru are very well dressed. That part I was not expecting. šŸ˜„

Have you ever been to Peru? If its not on your list, it should be!

Even with the amazing technology that is VR, some projects still require the old school method. Like this dome in Spearville, for instance!

People ask me pretty often if a mural is really worth it. Honestly, I think it's one of the best things a business can do for itself. A painted wall gets noticed. People stop, they take photos, they share it. That's not something a sign or a logo on a door does. I've painted walls for restaurants, distribution centers, community spaces, storefronts, and every time, the response has been worth it. Color changes how a space feels and how people interact with it.

If you've been thinking about a mural for your business, send me your city, a photo of the wall, the rough size, and your timeline and I'll take a look.

When I'm traveling, I always keep my eyes open for art. This place stopped me in my tracks. This is the Hotel Mayu Cusco in Cusco, Peru, and I have to show you how every single surface, inside and out, is painted. Walls, ceilings, stairwells, columns. All of it. The man working there let us come inside and take photos, and I am so glad we did because I fell in love with it that afternoon. We actually went back in the evening when it was quiet to get more photos because I just couldn't get enough of it.

The brightly colored florals are completely right up my alley. I could have stood there for hours. And the street it's on is one of the most beautiful I've ever come across.

If anybody is planning a trip to Cusco, I'd seriously look into staying here.

Have you ever walked into a place that stopped you like this?

There's a lot more that goes into a mural quote than just the size of the wall.

Design complexity, travel, equipment, and your budget all factor in. Not every project needs a huge investment to make a big impact, and I'd rather talk through what's possible than have someone assume a mural is out of reach before they even ask.

Every quote is custom because every mural is different.

Here's a breakdown of what I take into consideration for mural quotes. If you want one for your design idea, send me your city, a photo of the wall, rough size, and your timeline.

Here's a quick and inexpensive hack I use to protect adjacent surfaces while I'm painting.

Grab a piece of cardstock, tape a few paint sticks to the back for a handle, and you've got yourself a paint shield for basically nothing.

If you paint at all, you should definitely save this one!

Being here in Peru surrounded by so much color and art has me fired up to get home and paint. I come back tomorrow and I'm already thinking about what I want to do this fall.

I'd really love to take on a project where I get a little more creative freedom with the design. Something bright and bold that lets me explore some ideas I've been sitting on. When I have that kind of freedom, I'm able to work with a lower budget than I usually would on a fully commissioned piece, which is something I don't often get to offer.

So if you've been wanting a mural but the budget has felt like a barrier, this might be a good time to reach out. Message me with your city, wall photo, rough size, and your timeline and we can talk about it.

Here's the full finished look at the Nico's Tacos food truck out of Woodbine, Kansas. I love when a project wraps around every side and everything connects. They plan to start setting up in the area this fall, so keep an eye out for it. If you have a truck, trailer, or wall that needs some color, send me a message with your location, a photo of what you're working with, rough size, and your timeline.

"You are always working." In the words of my boyfriend.

If I'm not painting then I'm either answering messages, sending estimates, contracts or invoices, or working on designs. Even when I'm leaving for vacation I have to catch up at the airport so that once I arrive I can actually enjoy my time!

Any guesses where I ran off to for a quick vacation before my busy season starts? šŸ˜„

A few details from the Nico's Tacos truck I really loved. The service window cover is painted too, so even when the truck is closed the whole thing still looks finished. The destination signs were a favorite of mine, and then there's Nico, who obviously ended up all over this truck and I am not complaining about that at all.

Which detail would you notice first?
