Warehouse and facility folks β€” quick question: does your building ever feel like the heat just... disappears?

It's not your imagination. Warm air rises, so in a tall warehouse it parks itself up at the ceiling β€” up to 15Β°F warmer up there than at floor level. Your heating system works overtime, your energy bill climbs, and your crew on the floor is still cold.

The fix is simpler than you'd think: destratification. A slow-spinning HVLS fan gently pushes that trapped warm air back down where people actually work β€” cutting heating system runtime 20–30% and winter heating costs by up to 20%.

This Tuesday we're sharing the full breakdown β€” the science, the numbers, all of it. Follow along!

There's nothing like a comfortable production floor. πŸ˜„

Over at N.B. Handy in Davenport, Florida, Production Manager David Miville runs his shop by a simple philosophy: his people and his production machinery are his most valuable assets β€” and both deserve a comfortable place to work.

So they added Refresh Fans HVLS fans above the production floor. One fan can cover up to 22,000 sq ft on about a kilowatt, and they're quieter than the machines running below (under 45 dB).

In David's words: Refresh Fans provided a solution to keep both happy and working well.

Some facilities need a 24-foot fan. A lot of them don't β€” and that's exactly why we built the P680.

It's our HVLS fan for mid-size and light-duty spaces: 8 to 14 feet of slow, quiet airflow for warehouses, shops, showrooms, and commercial spaces where a giant fan would be overkill.

The physics don't change with size: one fan can replace up to 20 small ones, it runs near-silent at under 45 dB, and the breeze makes a space feel 10–15Β°F cooler. Lower ceilings, tighter layouts β€” same comfort, same energy savings.

Facility folks in the dusty trades β€” this one's for you. 🏭

Cement, mining, woodworking, grain handling… when your air is full of particulates, you've probably heard that a big ceiling fan is a non-starter. "The dust will kill the motor."

Here's the engineering answer: Refresh Fans HVLS fans run sealed, IP65-rated EC brushless motors β€” dust-tight, protected against water jets, with no brushes to wear out. They're built for exactly these environments, working alongside your dust collection (not instead of it) to keep air moving over your crew and break up the hot layer trapped overhead.

Your people still need cooling. The dust doesn't get a veto. 🌬️

Throwback Friday πŸŽ₯

Seven years ago, Paul walked into a 95Β°F Florida warehouse, stood under one of our first fans, and said the quiet part out loud: "even the gel in my hair is good." πŸ˜‚

That little clip went on to become the most-viewed video we've ever posted β€” 21,000+ views and counting! Seven years later our fans have come a long way: the EQ is now our flagship line, 10–24 ft of whisper-quiet airflow, backed by thousands of happy customers.

But the basics haven't changed one bit: big, slow blades and cooling you can feel on your skin.

Here's the original, exactly as it ran in 2019. Thanks for watching all these years. πŸŒ€

Proof that comfort is a production metric comes from an unlikely place: a dairy barn.

Philip Watson, Owner of Watson Land & Livestock in Hamilton, Ontario: "Refresh Fans provided an easy solution to keep our cows cool, happy and productive."

Heat stress is one of the costliest hidden problems in livestock operations. One HVLS fan moves up to 20 small fans' worth of air, runs under 45 dB, and makes a space feel 10–15Β°F cooler.

Cool, happy, productive. We'll let the herd judge.

Here's a fan that doesn't get enough love: the P730. πŸ’¨

It's our mid-size HVLS β€” 10 to 18 feet across β€” and it's perfect for those in-between spaces. You know the one: too big for a ceiling fan, too small to justify a 24-foot flagship.

It quietly pushes a huge column of air down to the floor (breeze that feels 10–15Β°F cooler, barely a whisper at under 45 dB), and in winter it recaptures heat trapped at the ceiling to cut heating costs by up to 20%.

Warehouses, gyms, manufacturing cells, commercial spaces β€” the P730 is stocked in the USA for quick delivery.

Got a space in mind? Tell us the ceiling height and we'll tell you the size. πŸ‘‡

Pop quiz, facility friends πŸ‘‡

You've got a warehouse with 40-foot ceilings. Which fan do you hang β€” and how far down?

Wrong fan, wrong height: too small and you're stirring air nobody breathes; too big and you're paying for horsepower that does nothing.

Our air scientists' rules of thumb:
βœ… 10–16 ft ceilings β†’ 8–12 ft fans
βœ… 16–30 ft ceilings β†’ 12–20 ft fans, hung on a downrod so blades sit at the 20–28 ft sweet spot
βœ… 30 ft+ ceilings β†’ 20–24 ft fans
βœ… Blades at least 10 ft off the floor

And the one most folks miss: on tall ceilings, dropping the fan down to the 20–28 ft sweet spot on a downrod can boost the airflow people actually feel at the floor by 30–40%. Tall ceilings trap heat gradients up to 15Β°F β€” get the fan into the zone and the whole floor feels it.

If you could fix ONE comfort complaint in your building this week, what would it be?

πŸ”₯ Hot spots that never cool down
πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈ Stale, stagnant air
βš”οΈ The never-ending thermostat wars
🀧 Dust and poor air quality

Tell us in the comments β€” and tell us which one is costing you the most. One big, slow HVLS fan takes on all four: it makes 20,000+ sq ft feel 10–15Β°F cooler, runs whisper-quiet under 45 dB, and cuts cooling costs by up to 30%.
