A personal update. ❤️

When I last shared an update here, I was halfway through chemotherapy for Stage III lymphoma.

I’m incredibly grateful to share that I am now in remission.

After six months and 12 infusions, I’ve completed treatment and am beginning the next chapter: recovery.

The truth is, I’m exhausted. My body and mind need time to heal and rebuild strength, so I’m giving myself the space and time I need to recover.

I’m not sure yet when I’ll be able to return to my architectural practice, but I look forward to stepping back into practice after recovery.

Most importantly, I want to thank everyone in this community for the kindness, healing wishes, encouragement, and patience you’ve shown me over these past months. Every message has meant so much.

I’m deeply grateful to be here, and I look forward to reconnecting with you all when the time is right.

— Jen ❤️

A personal and professional pause.

I want to share with my clients, colleagues, and community in Washington and Hawaiʻi that I have recently been diagnosed with cancer (stage III lymphoma) and am currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

As I navigate this time, I have made the difficult decision to pause my architectural practice, including all existing and new project engagements.

Because of the profound fatigue, exhaustion, and cognitive effects of both cancer and treatment, my ability to work and respond as I normally would is very limited.

I am in good hands and receiving excellent care as I focus fully on healing.

To those who have recently reached out by email, phone, or through my website, thank you for your patience, understanding, and care.

With gratitude,
Jen

The soul of this house is beginning to show.
1x6 T&G cypress siding going in at our Hawi project on the Big Island.
Warm, durable, and beautifully responsive to light — a material that will weather with grace.

Designed for place. Built for time.

This home in Kohala is beginning to stand strong — shaped with care, intention, and deep respect for the land.
And this view… pure aloha, pure gratitude.

I love a good before & after! I designed this porch addition years ago, and it remains one of those projects that makes me smile every time I see it.

It completely changed how this home feels — from closed-off and un-inviting to warm, welcoming, and full of life.

A small, thoughtful architectural change can transform the whole spirit of a house. Sometimes it’s not about adding more square footage… it’s about adding soul.

If you’ve been imagining ways to make your home feel more inviting — porch, entry, or backyard ADU — I’d love to help bring that vision to life.

Send me a message to explore your project.
