The first American Tree Farm System and True North Consulting Forestry signs have been installed on a landowner's property. These signs proudly represent the landowner’s commitment to sustainable forest management and their partnership with True North Consulting Forestry.

We are honored to partner with landowners who value responsible forestry and stewardship, creating a lasting impact for future generations.

Good forest management practices are key to ensuring that white oak-dominated forests successfully regenerate and thrive. 🌳 Landowners for Oaks (a series of publications developed by the White Oak Initiative in partnership with UK Forestry) provides great information about oak biology, recommended management practices and more. Right now, 75% of white oak trees are classified as "mature," while younger trees are limited. As we know, it takes decades for oaks to grow to maturity. It's certainly not too late, but our time to make a difference and ensure their sustainability is now. Here's to the future of our white oaks. 🌳

Changes in ecological dynamics and land management have allowed species like maples and beech to thrive, impacting the natural regeneration of our beloved white oaks. The result? White oak-dominated forests are giving way to intense competition. Our goal is to ensure white oaks have the space they need to advance beyond these competitors. Our focus is white oak regeneration. 🌳

White oak is a very important species on our landscape for wildlife and forest industry. Unfortunately it is very quickly disappearing from forests. The White Oak Initiative is a resource I highly encourage all to look at!

Will 2024 be the turning point? 🌳 We’re committed to reversing the decline in white oak regeneration. This trend isn't just an environmental concern — it’s a threat to American hardwood industries such as furniture, flooring, cabinetry, and wine and spirits. To learn more, check out our article in the November 2023 issue of the National Hardwood Lumber Association's trade magazine, Hardwood Matters. As our native trees shed their leaves, it's prime time to spot invasive species like autumn olive, honeysuckle, and multiflora rose. These unwelcome guests tend to hold onto their leaves longer than our native species. Whether you're on a walk or fully immersed in the hunting season, keep a keen eye on your forest. If you spot any of these intruders, snap a photo, and share it with us! If you're concerned about invasive species and the well-being of your forest, don't hesitate to reach out. Let's work together to ensure your forest stays healthy and thriving.
