R.W. LaPine is expanding in St. Joseph, bringing new investment and new opportunities to Southwest Michigan.

The fourth-generation Michigan company is investing more than $9.5 million across its Southwest Michigan operations, including a 10,000-square-foot expansion at its St. Joseph facility and the creation of at least 70 new jobs.

The project will nearly triple R.W. LaPine’s capacity for large piping fabrication, helping the company pursue larger projects and expand into new markets.

Cornerstone Alliance is proud to support this investment alongside R.W. LaPine, Southwest Michigan First and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. This is a great example of what collaboration across businesses and economic development organizations can accomplish for our region.

Announcing a new business expansion!

Fourth-generation, family-owned R.W. LaPine, a long-standing Michigan company specializing in HVAC, mechanical contracting, and custom metal fabrication services, is investing $9.5 million to expand its operations in Comstock Township and the City of St. Joseph, MI Government.

This significant investment will nearly triple the company’s capacity for large piping fabrication, positioning R.W. LaPine to compete for larger projects across multiple diverse industries while creating at least 70 new, high-wage jobs.

With average starting wages of approximately $35 per hour, plus benefits, we’re grateful R.W. LaPine has chosen to continue growing in Southwest Michigan, building career pathways in the skilled trades and opportunities for advancement.

We’re proud to have worked alongside R.W. LaPine, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), Cornerstone Alliance, and other partners to support this important project and help create the business environment necessary for continued growth and investment right here in Southwest Michigan.

We’re excited to announce a major expansion of R.W. LaPine, representing $9.5 million in investment and the creation of 70+ new jobs right here in Michigan!

As a fourth-generation, family-owned company, we’re proud to continue investing in our people, our facilities, and the communities we call home.

Comstock Township: Adding 42,000 square feet for piping fabrication, training, and office space
St. Joseph: Adding 10,000 square feet to expand our operations
Fabrication: Nearly tripling our capacity for large piping fabrication
Jobs: Creating 70+ new career opportunities with average starting wages of approximately $35/hour plus benefits

This expansion will allow us to take on larger projects and expand into new markets, including power & energy, data centers, healthcare, food & beverage, and life sciences.

Most importantly, this investment is an investment in our people. We’re creating more opportunities for skilled tradespeople to build long-term careers and advance into roles such as journeyman, foreman, estimator, project manager, and company leadership.
