One of the biggest struggles in my profession?? Getting clients to listen.

PSA - when a contractor tells you they need things to go a certain way or they advise you to use certain suppliers or materials…it’s not because they are being lazy or trying to be complicated!!

There are legit reasons behind these requests or advice given. These reasons are not only time and money savers for the Client, but they ensure the Contactor is receiving proper margins on their projects!

If you don’t want to have to explain every detail about how you do your job to the clients you serve, you shouldn’t be requesting this of your contractors. You also shouldn’t be questioning every little thing they say or direction they give. If you feel the need to do so, you shouldn’t have hired them in the first place.

When you are constantly questioning or asserting that things should go a different way, please understand that you are not the professional and are more than welcome to perform the work yourself.

And while you may not fully understand WHY something needs to go a certain way, that doesn’t mean the reason isn’t legit.

I truly don’t think people understand that hoops these guys jump through, sacrifices they make, and losses they take in order to make up for clients that simply just can’t listen to the experts they hired.
