There’s a reason this method has been around for generations. 🔥

We use a modern interpretation of the traditional Japanese shou sugi ban burning process to bring out the natural character of the wood while making it tougher in the process. Each board is also hand burned and brushed, creating a finish with real depth and variation, no two boards exactly alike.

The burn also helps the wood withstand moisture, pests, and UV exposure, with less reliance on chemical treatments. It’s an old school process that still makes a lot of sense today.

A warm wood lid can add dimension to a room in a way that few other design features can.

In this beautiful custom home by Scariano Construction designed by Davis Walker the 1x6 cedar T&G lid brings just the right amount of warmth and richness to an otherwise wide open, natural light-filled floor plan.

We finished the cedar in a fully custom color created specifically for this homeowner, giving it a warmth that grounds the space and beautifully complements the floors by Missoula Floors A pretty incredible combination of materials, light, solid craftsmanship and thoughtful design.
