Me: “Balls. It’s hot as balls.”

Normally I wouldn’t say something like that out loud, but some clients are cool, and the attic was hot. AS BALLS. ⚽️ 🏀 ⚾️🏈☄️

I’m no expert but I kinda feel like if a manufacturer gives you an 8” duct collar to attach to there should be an 8” round hole behind it. That hole looks like a 6” duct would fit over it.
Am I an expert? I honestly don’t know. I just know some things and one thing I know is 15 hours in a crawlspace running metal duct is a lot.

ON AIR COMPRESSORS
When air compressors compress the air into the tank, they ALSO compress the moisture in the air.
Compressing atmospheric water turns it into a puddle of liquid water in your tank.
If you don’t drain that liquid water, it can stay in your compressor tank, and rust it out.
If the rusted tank loses integrity under pressure, it can explode.
I’m not a religious ✝️🔯🪯☪️ man, but I’m religious about some things, and one of them is draining the tank!

Tell me again how “going solar” is the path to efficiency.
A solar pro once told me that adding was basically just pre-paying for electricity.
You love your solar system? I’m happy for you. Check in the next time it needs servicing.
In the meantime, this house will still be hot. They have AC. If it was comfortable they wouldn’t have called me.

But if your house is hot, by all means, explore solar. Maybe it will work for you.
But isn’t a “maybe.” It works ALL THE TIME, even when your power goes out and your AC shuts down.

Bought myself two more years. I have a lot of thoughts about “licensing” and here are a few:
* good contractors have to pay into the fund that’s set up to help pay for bad contractors and that doesn’t feel fair at all
* I just paid $338 to be a contractor. I didn’t have to prove any knowledge or anything, I just had to have $338.
* Just because a contractor is licensed doesn’t mean they’re any good. It just means they had $338.

Maybe I’ll write a blog about my contractor’s licensing journey. It took a year and involved FOIA requests.

Anyway, I’m licensed for a while longer!

“Hey Blake, why do you insist on doing a site visit before putting together a proposal?”
This is why.
1️⃣ live uncapped wires
2️⃣ live capped wires, but still exposed
3️⃣ push-in connectors are OK, but connections need to be in a box just like if you used wire nuts
An electrician needs to do a sweep of this attic before we can even think about insulating.
Less-experienced or uncaring insulators would just bury all that and let the insurance company sort you out when your house burned down.
