According to data collected from Health Facilities Management magazine’s annual Hospital Construction Survey, technology is stepping in where staffing gaps exist. Patient monitoring systems entered the top five of the survey for the first time, with 13 percent of respondents reporting they are replacing or upgrading their systems this year, compared to the 5-7 percent range seen in previous years. HFM reports that AI, wireless sensors, and wearable tech are driving the shift.

“Technology can be helpful for filling workload gaps or automating portions of workflow, but only when it’s thoughtfully planned and integrated,” said John Cooper, Healthcare and East Region Operations Director for Aptitude. “This is an example of why having a systems integrator – someone who is vendor agnostic and advocating for all stakeholders – is crucial for making sure the tech functions as intended.”

During National Hospital Week, we are taking the time to recognize the incredible work happening across healthcare every day.

But recognition also means listening.

Nurses are facing rising burnout, driven by administrative burden, constant interruptions, and overwhelming alert systems. These challenges don’t just affect staff experience, they impact patient care and long-term workforce stability.

The good news: thoughtful technology planning can help. By reducing unnecessary alerts, improving workflow integration, and bringing nurses into the design process, Aptitude aids healthcare organizations to build systems that truly support frontline teams.

Behind every live performance are countless hours of preparation, coordination and precision... but the venue itself plays a bigger role than most people realize.

From acoustics and sightlines to lighting, staging and audience experience, our teams work through every detail ahead of time, so everyone can focus on what matters most when the curtain goes up.

As Construction Safety Week wraps up, we’re reminded that safety at Aptitude is bigger than one week.

This year’s theme, All In Together, reflects how we approach safety every day. Watching out for one another. Speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. Making choices that protect our team, on the job and beyond it.

At Aptitude, safety is a shared responsibility and a core value that guides how we work so everyone gets home to what matters most.

This National Nurses Week, we’re celebrating the caregivers at the heart of healthcare. But recognition also means asking an important question: Are the systems around nurses helping them, or adding to the strain?

“The caregiver journey and the patient journey are intertwined," said John Cooper, Director of East Region and National Healthcare Operations at Aptitude.

As a technology integrator, Aptitude advocates for every voice, helping ensure the systems behind care truly support the people delivering it.

Health Facilities Management magazine’s spring 2026 Hospital Construction Survey highlighted a need for both security and facilities teams to be included in planning, design, and construction conversations early for healthcare facilities to be better poised to prevent both physical and cybersecurity-related problems.

“Security staff is a key stakeholder group, just like the clinical staff or the facilities and operations staff that has to be invited to planning and design conversations early,” said John Cooper, Healthcare and East Region Operations Director for Aptitude. “I’ve seen project delays, swaths of design missed, and projects miss the mark of their original intent when everyone impacted isn’t a part of planning discussions.”
