🔥 SEPTEMBER DEJA VU… 90° AGAIN?! 🔥

Does anyone else feel like we wake up every morning, look at the forecast and see the SAME THING? 90°… 92°… 95°… repeat. 😂

Yes, September is HOT and DRY, but September heat is different than July heat. The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting longer, the sun angle is changing, and shadows are stretching farther across our lawns. That means fewer hours of intense sunlight beating down on the turf, even though the afternoon temperature can still be brutal.

💧 WATERING IS HUGE RIGHT NOW. If you have an established lawn, make sure you’re giving it good, deep watering about 3–4 days per week, preferably early in the morning. Don’t let September fool you just because fall is around the corner. Hot + dry = your lawn still needs water!

🌱 JUST AERATED & SEEDED? Follow the watering instructions in the photo! Your goal is completely different: keep that seed and soil surface consistently damp. Warm September soil temperatures can be AWESOME for germination, but seed can’t germinate without moisture.

September is one of our favorite months because it’s RECOVERY & REBUILD MONTH! The heat may feel like July, but Mother Nature is already changing gears toward fall.

🍂 HAPPY WEDNESDAY! 🍂

It’s officially our FAVORITE 4 months of the year — the “BER” months!

Why do Turf Geeks love September, October, November & December?

Because this is when we RECOVER, REBUILD & PREP your lawn for next year.

🌱 SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER
Aeration & seeding + Early Fall fertilizer. Time to rebuild thin areas, grow new grass and recover from summer stress.

🍁 OCTOBER & NOVEMBER
Late Fall treatments. We focus on cleaning up w**ds NOW so we have fewer problems waiting for us next spring.

❄️ NOVEMBER & DECEMBER
Winterizer fertilizer. We’re feeding those roots and storing energy so your lawn can wake up strong and be one of the FIRST GREEN lawns on the block next spring!

The work we do during the “BER” months can make a HUGE difference in what your lawn looks like next year.

Let’s get BER ready! 🌱

Turf Geeks
Better lawns. Better communication. Better support.

TURF TIP TUESDAY 🌱

What the BLEEP is going on with Mother Nature?!

We went from Florida to Las Vegas! Humid and wet ➡️ dry heat, wind, and lawns drying out FAST.

The biggest thing right now? WATER! Your lawn is losing moisture much faster, so make sure you’re keeping up.

What about Aeration & Seeding? We’re still GOOD! Soil temps are incredible right now, which means seed can germinate quickly. You just have to keep that seed consistently moist.

Not sure what your lawn needs? Schedule an On-Site Visit with the Chief Turf Geek and I’ll come walk your lawn with you and build a game plan.

🔥 IT’S HOT, KC — BUT THIS ISN’T JULY HEAT!

We’re looking at temperatures near 100° this week, so yes, your lawn may show some stress. You could see some fading, curling or even browning. That’s normal for cool-season turf during extreme heat.

But here’s something important: 100° at the beginning of September is different than 100° in July.

☀️ The sun angle is getting lower. The sun isn’t as intense on the lawn as it was during the peak of summer.

⏰ Our days are getting shorter. We have fewer hours of intense sunlight beating down on the turf.

🌙 Nights are getting longer. That gives the lawn and soil more time to cool down and recover overnight.

🌱 Soil temperatures are still warm. And that’s exactly why we are STILL aerating and seeding this week. Warm soil + consistent moisture = excellent conditions for tall fescue germination.

You may look at the forecast and think, “Why in the world are the Turf Geeks putting seed down when it’s 100°?”

Because air temperature is only one piece of the puzzle. We’re looking at soil temperature, day length, sun angle, nighttime recovery and where we are in the fall growing window.

The biggest key this week is WATER. 💧 Existing lawns need it, and newly seeded lawns need consistent moisture to keep that seedbed from drying out.

So don’t panic if your lawn looks a little stressed this week, and don’t worry if you’re scheduled for Aeration & Seeding.

Fall is coming. The growing conditions are changing every single day. Let’s Geek Out! 🌱

SUNDAY STORIES: It’s About the People

Some days are hard. Some days are tough. It’s hot. Our bodies get beat down, and our lawns get beat down too.

But why do we keep doing what we do?

You’ve always got to have a WHY behind you.

Mine is pretty simple — the 3 G’s:

Grow my family.
Grow Turf Geeks.
Grow grass.

Things are going to happen. Lawns are going to struggle. Mistakes will happen. Mother Nature will throw things at us.

And at the end of the day, guys… it’s just grass. We can grow grass back.

What really matters are the people around us.

That’s something I’ve learned more and more as Turf Geeks has grown.

We’re not really in the lawn business. We’re in the PEOPLE business.

It’s about our team — and we have an incredible team.

It’s about our families.

It’s about our friendships.

It’s about our clients and the relationships we build with them.

It’s about our partners and the other local businesses around us.

That’s what support local means to me. You’re not just hiring somebody to fertilize your lawn. You’re supporting a local turf team that lives here, works here, raises our families here, and genuinely cares about the people we serve.

Yes, we want to grow some incredible grass.

But more importantly, we want to take care of people.

That’s what Turf Geeks is about.

Grow family. Grow Turf Geeks. Grow grass.

The 3 G’s.

Let’s Geek Out.

🔥 HERE COMES THE HEAT!

Next week is going to be HOT, but late-August/early-September heat is different than July heat.

The sun angle is getting lower, daylight is getting shorter, and nights are getting longer. That means lawns get more recovery time overnight even when afternoon temperatures push into the upper 90s.

💧 Water is going to be VITAL next week! Keep your lawn properly watered and don’t wait until it’s completely stressed to start.

And if you’re scheduled for Aeration & Seeding, don’t panic about the temperatures! Warm soil temperatures are great for germination—as long as we keep that new seed consistently moist.

Hot week. Keep watering. Fall is getting closer! 🌱

🔥 Wow… Mother Nature is giving us another HOT spell!

If you’re scheduled for Aeration & Seeding next week, you might be looking at the forecast thinking:

“Wait… it’s going to be THAT hot and you’re putting seed down?”

YES! 🌱 And don’t worry — it’s totally fine.

A hot spell in early September is different than July or early August. The sun angle is changing, days are getting shorter, shadows are getting longer, and soil temperatures are moving toward great conditions for cool-season grass seed.

So let’s bust a myth…

❌ MYTH: IT’S TOO HOT TO SEED

We hear this every year, but some of our EARLY Aeration & Seeding lawns can actually be some of our best-performing seedings.

Why? Consistent soil temperatures are a huge part of successful germination.

Even with some hot afternoons, the soil is warm, nights are getting longer, and we’re getting closer to fall conditions every single day.

The BIGGEST thing you need to do?

💧 WATER. WATER. WATER.

Keep that new seed consistently moist and let it do its thing.

So if you’re scheduled next week, don’t panic about the forecast. Your lawn is going to be totally fine — and it’s going to thank you this fall!

The heat is going to be harder on the Turf Geeks doing the work than it is on your seed. 😂🌱

THIRSTY THURSDAY 💧🌱

Aeration & seeding season is here! Now the most important part: WATERING.

New seed needs consistent moisture to germinate and establish.

💧 Water 3 times per day:
• Around 8 AM
• Around Noon
• Around 4 PM

Keep each watering light and consistent. The goal is to keep the seed and soil moist — not soaked or puddled.

🌱 A few quick tips:
• Don’t let the seed dry out
• Avoid heavy watering that causes runoff
• Don’t water late at night — we don’t want the lawn going to bed wet
• Stay consistent, especially during the first few weeks

Save our watering instructions and SHARE them with anyone seeding this fall!

Turf Tip Tuesday 🌱

Got w**ds? Is your lawn thin or bare in spots?

A thick lawn is one of the best defenses against w**ds. Fall aeration and seeding helps fill in thin areas, build thicker turf, and set your lawn up for a better 2027.
