Nothing like meeting another Army veteran and immediately realizing you’ve found someone who understands the stories, the duty stations, and the questionable decisions that somehow became “great memories.” 😂🇺🇸

🚗 Winter Salt Can Do More Damage Than You Think

This garage had significant concrete damage caused by something many homeowners don’t think twice about: road salt. 🧂

During the winter, salt and deicing chemicals get tracked into garages on vehicles and tires. As they mix with moisture, they can pe*****te the concrete and contribute to surface deterioration, cracking, and spalling. Freeze-and-thaw cycles can make the damage even worse.

That’s why proper surface preparation is one of the most important parts of any coating project.

Before applying a coating, we mechanically prepare the concrete to remove damaged material, contaminants, and anything that could prevent the coating from properly bonding. We also address cracks and surface imperfections as part of the preparation process.

Concrete slabs release moisture from underneath long after they're poured, and that moisture can make epoxy coatings fail if you don't prepare for it.

The MACH ONE crew started this garage floor project with a moisture v***r barrier, then installed a 1/4-inch Feather Gray flake blend and a polyaspartic top coat.

The barrier is one version of prep that never shows up in the after photos and often matters the most.

If your garage floor has ever bubbled or peeled, ask whether a v***r barrier was part of the original install.

Casemate Museum sits inside a fort at Fort Monroe, Virginia, and its exhibit rooms see a steady stream of visitors year round. Old concrete under that kind of traffic gets slick, stained, and hard to keep looking presentable.

The MACH ONE crew handled 1,100 square feet there recently, prepping the surface thoroughly before installing an epoxy flake floor in a 1/4 inch Stoney Creek blend, chosen for slip resistance and a look that wouldn't feel out of place next to museum exhibits.

Efflorescence doesn't show up right away. It's the chalky white mineral deposit that creeps up concrete stem walls months after a floor gets coated, and by then it's already stained the finish.

For a recent two-car garage project in Norfolk, the MACH ONE crew coated the stem walls at the same time as the 1/4-inch Mushroom flake floor, not after. Same visit, one less repair down the road.
