🌿 A little milestone I'd love to share with our clients.

One of my favorite parts of my job has always been landscape design. I love taking an ordinary yard and transforming it into a space that is beautiful, functional, and tailored to the people who will enjoy it.

I'm excited to share that I've completed my Diploma in Gardening & Landscaping from Stratford Career Institute.

One thing this program reinforced for me is this:

"It's cool to know what works. It's even cooler to know why it works."

Over the years, I've designed landscapes based on experience, observation, and listening to my clients. This program gave me an even deeper understanding of the principles behind great landscape design, from plant selection and site analysis to grading, irrigation, drainage, hardscapes, lighting, ponds, and creating outdoor spaces that are both practical and visually balanced.

To me, great landscaping isn't about adding more plants. It's about creating harmony between the home, the environment, and the way a family wants to live and enjoy their outdoor space.

Learning has always been one of my passions (Nerd here 🤓), and I'm grateful to everyone in this community who has trusted us with their homes. Every project is an opportunity to create something unique, and I'm excited to continue helping homeowners turn their ideas into landscapes they'll enjoy for years to come.

Many homeowners hear the term "French drain" and assume it's the solution to every drainage problem. In reality, a French drain and a gravity drainage system serve different purposes, and choosing the wrong one can lead to disappointing results.

A French drain is designed to collect water that is already in the soil. It uses perforated pipe surrounded by gravel to intercept groundwater and slowly move it away. It is ideal for areas with constantly wet soil or seepage.

A gravity drainage system is designed to collect surface water before it has a chance to pond. It uses solid PVC pipe, strategically placed catch basins, and carefully calculated slopes to move large volumes of water away from your property during rain events.

The best drainage solution isn't about installing one system or the other, it's about understanding how water behaves on your property.

Depending on the conditions, a drainage design may include:
• A gravity drainage system only.
• A French drain only.
• A combination of both working together.

Every property is different. Elevations, soil conditions, the amount of runoff, and available discharge points all determine the right solution. Installing a French drain where a gravity system is needed, or vice versa,can waste money without solving the problem.

Right now we’ve been blessed with lots of rain 🌧️🙏
But irrigation leaks and malfunctions are still out there quietly wasting water, increasing bills, and stressing lawns.

Honestly, rain season is when many hidden irrigation problems finally show up 😅
