The AFTER 😮‍💨🌳✂️
Turns out “just square up the bushes” was a little more involved than it sounded 😂
These shrubs were loaded with tall shoots, volunteer growth, dead material, and branches sticking out in every direction. Instead of just running the hedge trimmer over the outside and calling it good, I went through them by hand and removed a TON of that unwanted growth first.
Then came the trimming, shaping, evening everything out, cleaning up the edges… and convincing myself for the 47th time that I was DONE messing with that one branch. 😂
A lot of extra detail work, but the difference speaks for itself. Cleaner, healthier-looking shrubs and a much more maintained appearance without hacking them down and leaving them bare.
Sometimes the little details are what make the biggest difference. 💪🌿

🌳 BEFORE: When the bushes decide they’re done being bushes and start becoming trees 😂
These shrubs had gotten a little… ambitious.
Besides the normal overgrowth, there were tons of tall shoots, suckers, and volunteer growth sticking up through the shrubs. Instead of just buzzing everything off with the hedge trimmer and calling it good, I went through and individually removed a lot of that unwanted growth from down inside the bushes.
Definitely the kind of detail work where you start questioning your life choices about halfway through 😂✂️
The goal was to clean out the mess, bring the height back under control, and get these looking like actual shrubs again — without hacking them so hard that they ended up thin, bare, or full of holes.
