AROUND THE ESTATES | Episode 1 - Hello!
Welcome to Millennial Estates — where the kids are always outside, the pigeons have moved in, and our “mountain view” is the corn pile to the east! 😂
We know this neighborhood well — not just because Kearney Cuts is here every week.
I live here too! 👋 Hi! I'm Kyle Schnacker! We've lived here since late 2020! 🫶
Millennial Estates is still a young neighborhood. Ground was broken close to eight years ago (don't quote me on that😬) and it’s been fun watching families, trees, yards and lawns grow into their own.
That’s where things get interesting for us.
Underneath these lawns is heavy clay soil. As the neighborhood matures, compaction can make it harder for water, oxygen and roots to move through the soil. That’s why core aeration will be an important tool over time.
The neighborhood is changing, too. As trees grow and shade increases, the original turf may not be ideal everywhere. In some areas, overseeding with shade-tolerant grass varieties, like fine fescues, can help create healthier lawns.
We’re also learning where water collects, where turf dries out, and how conditions vary between properties.
That’s what Around the Estates is about: showing you what we’re seeing, why it’s happening, and what we can do about it.
Sometimes it’ll be lawn education. Sometimes it’ll just be neighborhood life.
And the pigeons will probably return.
This isn’t just another mowing route for us. It’s home.
Welcome to Around the Estates.
