🐸🌧️ Tonight Could Be a “Big Night” for Amphibians!
⚠️ Important Safety Note:
Thunderstorms are in the forecast for tonight, and while this is fine weather for frogs, it’s not safe for humans. Although visitors are welcome at the North Lincoln Street crossing on other migration nights, we are asking people to stay indoors tonight for safety’s sake and plan to visit another night instead.
Every year, on the first warm, rainy nights of spring, thousands of frogs and salamanders migrate to their breeding wetlands in a phenomenon known as “Big Night.” Tonight could be one of those nights!
To help protect migrating amphibians as they make their way across local roads, the City of Keene will be closing portions of:
🚧 North Lincoln Street – closed to all traffic
🚧 Jordan Road – closed to through-traffic
🕖 Closures will be in place from approximately 7:30 PM tonight, Tuesday, 4/14, until 7:00 AM tomorrow morning.
If there is thunder or lightning, Harris Center naturalists will not be onsite.
Thank you for helping protect Keene’s migrating amphibians! 🐸🦎
