What a lovely morning to work in the garden. We did some thinning out of the Mexican petunias and gifted them to friends of the park. They can continue growing over in their yards.

What a wonderful work day we had this morning in the garden. The weather was beautiful. The ground was soft for pulling weeds. We got a lot of things cleared out and harvested the Larkspur seeds for next year’s spring blooms. These are the seeds that fell out as Kim put them in a sack to take home and dry out some. The rest of the ones she has drying will amount to about twice this many. The garden will be fully sewn next fall with all these seeds for the spring. It will be a site to behold for sure.

Keep Kennedale Beautiful was recognized tonight at City Council meeting for our Gold Star rating from Keep Texas Beautiful!

KKB began in 2009
Early founder of the City of Kennedale forming the KKB Commission was the late great Wilda Turner. We strive today to continue her legacy.

KKB provided the city with 1050 volunteer hours of service to our community this year, including established events like the "Texas Trash Off" clean-up event, "Bring It", "The Butterfly Party" and the administration of the Adopt -a-Spot litter clean-up program.

We learned at the KTB 3 day Conference we attended last week that that hourly rate of pay would have been $36.14 that the city SAVED by our volunteer hours!
For 2025 that amount came to $37,947.00
WOW!

KKB is responsible for the beauty of the Native Texas Gardens in Town Center Park. All our plants attract pollinators and are drought tolerant- to save the city money on the water bill.

New this year, a presentation to the High School Green Club and the establishment of a compost area in the Butterfly Demonstration Garden in Town Center Park.

KKB will once again be designated in the Leadership Circle for their participation in the Mayors Monarch Pledge that Mayor Johnson began many years ago and continues now!
