Work is underway on WSLP-109, part of the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain hurricane and storm risk reduction system. Before our crews can begin building the levee, they first need a safe and reliable way to access the work area.

These photos show our team constructing a sand access road through unstable marsh terrain using specialized marsh excavators and dozers. The road will provide a more stable route for our employees, heavy equipment and materials as construction moves forward.

Cycle is responsible for approximately one mile of the larger 18.5-mile levee system, including levee embankment and concrete monolith floodwalls at a pipeline crossing. This important hurricane and storm risk reduction project will help provide greater protection for communities in St. John the Baptist, St. Charles and St. James parishes.

Safety starts with access, and this road helps create the foundation for the work ahead.

PROJECT UPDATE | St. Bernard Stormwater Resiliency Project

There’s a lot happening beneath the surface at the St. Bernard Stormwater Resiliency Project.

Cycle Construction crews recently completed installation of a massive underground stormwater detention system designed to hold approximately 4.7 million gallons of stormwater, helping reduce flooding and improve resiliency in the surrounding New Orleans neighborhood.

The system includes a 637,000-cubic-foot subsurface detention system, installed and backfilled in just 3.5 months, despite the challenges of summer rain and the start of hurricane season.

With the underground tanks in place, our crews are now completing the drainage system. From there, work will move above ground, where the finished project will include a football field with a wraparound track, basketball court and baseball field.

Located behind McDonogh 35 College Prep High School and east of Bayou St. John, this project is a great example of infrastructure doing double duty: strengthening stormwater resilience below ground while creating valuable recreational space for the community above it.

Cycle is proud to help bring this important project from preconstruction planning through field implementation, We look forward to sharing the next phase as the site takes shape.

That’s a wrap on a great summer with our 2026 Cycle Construction interns!

Grace, Jacob, Jeremy and Ryan spent the summer working alongside our team, gaining hands-on experience and learning more about the many opportunities within civil construction.

They came ready to learn, asked great questions and brought plenty of enthusiasm to the job. We hope their time at Cycle gave them valuable experience they can carry with them as they continue their education and begin building their careers.

Thank you, Grace, Jacob, Jeremy and Ryan, for being part of the Cycle team this summer. We wish you all the best and can’t wait to see what’s ahead!

THE PEOPLE BEHIND CYCLE | LIONEL BEEBE

Lionel Beebe has been part of the Cycle family for more than 25 years. Before Cycle Construction was established, Lionel worked alongside Jon Kerion for many years. When he joined Cycle, he started on the jobsite as a Utility Foreman before transitioning to the office as Equipment & Facilities Manager.

Today, Lionel plays an important role in keeping Cycle moving behind the scenes. He manages and schedules the company’s equipment, coordinates moves between jobsites and makes sure our office and facilities have what they need to keep things running smoothly.

Meet Betty Odinet — 25 Years of Commitment to Cycle Construction.

For 25 years, Betty has been an integral part of the Cycle Construction team. Her career exemplifies how dedication, adaptability, and experience create a lasting impact. Betty joined Cycle in 2001 in the Accounting department. A few years later, Nathan Kernion asked her to transition into the Estimating & Project Management department, where she managed contracts, bid bonds, and organized the department’s project files. In 2014, her role expanded again when Jon Kernion asked her to also serve as his Executive Assistant.

Today, Betty continues to wear both hats—supporting contract administration while providing invaluable support to company leadership. After 25 years, Betty's knowledge of Cycle, its people, and its operations is unmatched. She represents the kind of dedication and institutional knowledge that has helped make Cycle what it is today.

Big changes are underway at Tulane University! Over the past couple of months, our team has been hard at work transforming the area between Newcomb Quad and Berger Family Lawn into a pedestrian-only space that will create a safer, more walkable campus.

But what you don't see is just as important. Beneath the surface, we're installing a new underground drainage retention system that will help reduce flooding and improve stormwater management for years to come.

These photos highlight some of the progress so far:

• Preparing the subsurface for paving
• Surveying and staking the site
• Installing paving forms and reinforcement
• Getting everything ready for upcoming concrete pours

BIG NEWS FROM CYCLE!

After more than 50 years of building infrastructure across the Gulf South, Cycle Construction has officially been acquired by Dynamic Group.

This is a proud moment for our team, our clients, and the Kernion family legacy that built Cycle into what it is today. From levees, floodwalls, and marine infrastructure to disaster response and some of the toughest projects in the region, Cycle has always been about showing up when it matters most.

That commitment isn’t changing.

Our clients will continue working with the same trusted Cycle team. We’re staying in Kenner, keeping our name, and our leadership is not going anywhere. What is changing is the depth of resources, capabilities, and support we can now bring to every project.

We’re grateful for the foundation that got us here and excited for what this next chapter means for our people, our partners, and the communities we serve across the Gulf South.
