Q3 was a quarter of momentum at Cycle Construction.

Across Louisiana and beyond, our teams completed critical infrastructure projects, mobilized on new work and continued making progress on complex projects involving drainage, flood protection, utilities, marine construction, transportation and site development.

During the quarter, four projects reached completion, seven newly awarded or newly started projects moved forward, and eight major ongoing projects reached important construction milestones.

From floodwall construction and underground detention systems to marine work and new industrial infrastructure, our teams continue to take on projects that strengthen the communities and industries they serve.

And behind every milestone are the people who make the work possible. This quarter, we were also proud to celebrate Sheron VanBuren on 20 years with Cycle Construction.

Clearing the Way for Global Commerce.

Cycle Construction is proud to announce that the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) Board of Commissioners has approved a motion to award our company a $2.25 million contract for preliminary site demolition at the future Louisiana International Terminal (LIT) in Violet, Louisiana.

The $2.6 billion Louisiana International Terminal represents a transformative investment in maritime infrastructure. Designed to accommodate larger container vessels, this next-generation terminal will serve as a major gateway for global commerce, connecting international markets to America's heartland through the Mississippi River, six Class I railroads, and interstate highway systems.

With federal permitting secured, LIT is advancing into its next phase of development. The anticipated scope of work includes preliminary site demolition and the removal of existing structures, foundations, concrete infrastructure, utilities, and other obstructions to prepare the property for future terminal construction.

We're honored to be selected for this important early phase of a project of national significance, helping lay the groundwork for stronger U.S. supply chains, expanded trade capacity, and new opportunities for economic growth.

Blaine joined Cycle in 2010 as a Field Laborer and quickly worked his way up through the ranks, becoming a Light Equipment Operator, Heavy Equipment Operator, Foreman, and now Superintendent.

What Blaine enjoys most about being part of the Cycle team is the people he works alongside and the variety of projects Cycle takes on. He appreciates that Cycle isn’t afraid to bid on work they haven’t done before, giving him opportunities to take on new challenges and continue expanding his skill set.

He also values Cycle’s commitment to promoting from within and giving current team members opportunities to grow into new roles. Throughout his time with Cycle, Blaine has learned that hard work does not go unnoticed.
Outside of work, Blaine enjoys taking vacations with his family, flying his drone, and going out to eat with his wife. And when it comes to food, Mexican is his favorite!

The work you see on the jobsite starts long before the first task begins. Cycle’s Superintendents, Foremen and Project Managers recently spent a day sharpening their approach to project planning with Quality Systems & Standards Manager Christian Grillot.

Using principles from the LEAN Pull Planning Method, the team reviewed lessons from past projects, explored new planning techniques and discussed what works best in the field.

These planning sessions are not a one-time exercise. Throughout each project, our Superintendents and Project Managers work together to map out critical tasks, sequencing and upcoming phases so everyone understands the plan and what it takes to keep the project moving forward.

It is another way Cycle invests in our people, our processes and better project ex*****on.

Work is underway on WSLP-109, part of the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain hurricane and storm risk reduction system. Before our crews can begin building the levee, they first need a safe and reliable way to access the work area.

These photos show our team constructing a sand access road through unstable marsh terrain using specialized marsh excavators and dozers. The road will provide a more stable route for our employees, heavy equipment and materials as construction moves forward.

Cycle is responsible for approximately one mile of the larger 18.5-mile levee system, including levee embankment and concrete monolith floodwalls at a pipeline crossing. This important hurricane and storm risk reduction project will help provide greater protection for communities in St. John the Baptist, St. Charles and St. James parishes.

Safety starts with access, and this road helps create the foundation for the work ahead.

PROJECT UPDATE | St. Bernard Stormwater Resiliency Project

There’s a lot happening beneath the surface at the St. Bernard Stormwater Resiliency Project.

Cycle Construction crews recently completed installation of a massive underground stormwater detention system designed to hold approximately 4.7 million gallons of stormwater, helping reduce flooding and improve resiliency in the surrounding New Orleans neighborhood.

The system includes a 637,000-cubic-foot subsurface detention system, installed and backfilled in just 3.5 months, despite the challenges of summer rain and the start of hurricane season.

With the underground tanks in place, our crews are now completing the drainage system. From there, work will move above ground, where the finished project will include a football field with a wraparound track, basketball court and baseball field.

Located behind McDonogh 35 College Prep High School and east of Bayou St. John, this project is a great example of infrastructure doing double duty: strengthening stormwater resilience below ground while creating valuable recreational space for the community above it.

Cycle is proud to help bring this important project from preconstruction planning through field implementation, We look forward to sharing the next phase as the site takes shape.

That’s a wrap on a great summer with our 2026 Cycle Construction interns!

Grace, Jacob, Jeremy and Ryan spent the summer working alongside our team, gaining hands-on experience and learning more about the many opportunities within civil construction.

They came ready to learn, asked great questions and brought plenty of enthusiasm to the job. We hope their time at Cycle gave them valuable experience they can carry with them as they continue their education and begin building their careers.

Thank you, Grace, Jacob, Jeremy and Ryan, for being part of the Cycle team this summer. We wish you all the best and can’t wait to see what’s ahead!

THE PEOPLE BEHIND CYCLE | LIONEL BEEBE

Lionel Beebe has been part of the Cycle family for more than 25 years. Before Cycle Construction was established, Lionel worked alongside Jon Kerion for many years. When he joined Cycle, he started on the jobsite as a Utility Foreman before transitioning to the office as Equipment & Facilities Manager.

Today, Lionel plays an important role in keeping Cycle moving behind the scenes. He manages and schedules the company’s equipment, coordinates moves between jobsites and makes sure our office and facilities have what they need to keep things running smoothly.

We’re proud to have Lionel as one of The People Behind Cycle.

Meet Betty Odinet — 25 Years of Commitment to Cycle Construction.

For 25 years, Betty has been an integral part of the Cycle Construction team. Her career exemplifies how dedication, adaptability, and experience create a lasting impact. Betty joined Cycle in 2001 in the Accounting department. A few years later, Nathan Kernion asked her to transition into the Estimating & Project Management department, where she managed contracts, bid bonds, and organized the department’s project files. In 2014, her role expanded again when Jon Kernion asked her to also serve as his Executive Assistant.

Today, Betty continues to wear both hats—supporting contract administration while providing invaluable support to company leadership. After 25 years, Betty's knowledge of Cycle, its people, and its operations is unmatched. She represents the kind of dedication and institutional knowledge that has helped make Cycle what it is today.
