That pan of bacon grease seems harmless going down the drain while it's hot. Then it cools, hardens, and grabs onto everything that comes after it.

Do this instead: pour cooled grease into an old jar or can, let it set, and toss it in the trash.

Same rule for coffee grounds, eggshells, and pasta. Your disposal can handle scraps, but it was never built for a whole plate.
