Another Drainage Repair & Lawn Restoration Completed by Lake Vibe Landscaping!

Here’s another recent project where what started as a backyard drainage issue turned into a complete drain tile repair and lawn restoration.

Our goal wasn’t simply to repair the damaged pipe and cover everything back up. We wanted to make sure the drainage system was functioning properly before closing the area, while also leaving the homeowner with a backyard that can return to a healthy, established lawn.

🔧Drain Tile Repair

We started by accessing the existing drainage system and identifying the damaged section of drain tile.

The damaged portion was repaired using new socked corrugated drain tile, making sure everything was properly connected and positioned to continue carrying water through the existing system.

💦 Testing BEFORE Covering Everything

This is one of the most important parts of a drainage repair.

Before installing the final stone, fabric, and topsoil, we actually tested the drainage system.

Water was introduced into the drain tile from the far end of the property, and we followed the flow throughout the system to make sure it successfully traveled through the repaired section and continued all the way toward the neighboring property line.

We wanted to know the drainage system was working before everything disappeared underground!

Pea Stone + Drainage Fabric

Once we confirmed proper flow, the repaired drain tile was surrounded and protected with pea stone, providing a free-draining layer around the pipe.

We then installed high-grade water-permeable drainage fabric over the stone.

This helps separate the topsoil from the drainage stone while still allowing moisture to move through the soil and into the drainage layer below.

We also raised the existing catch basin to the proper finished elevation so that, as the new grass grows and thickens, the basin remains visible and accessible instead of eventually becoming buried or covered by the lawn.

Topsoil & Lawn Restoration

Once the underground work was complete, it was time to put the backyard back together.

Fresh topsoil was installed, graded, and blended into the surrounding lawn before beginning our seeding process.

For this project, we didn’t use just a standard amount of seed.

We applied approximately 3X our normal grass seed application to give the repaired area the best opportunity to establish thick, healthy growth.

We used a high-grade sunny grass seed mixture selected specifically for an area receiving substantial sunlight and foot traffic.

Our process included:

• Applying the first layer of grass seed
• Raking the seed into the fresh topsoil for better seed-to-soil contact
• Applying another layer of seed
• Installing pin mulch to help retain moisture and protect the newly seeded area
• Adding additional seed throughout the finishing process for maximum coverage

And We’re Not Done Just Because the Job Is Done

One thing we take seriously at Lake Vibe Landscaping is making sure the finished product continues moving in the right direction after we leave.

We’ll be checking back on this property over the coming weeks to monitor the new grass, check germination, and make sure everything is establishing the way we want it to.

That’s the difference between simply covering up a drainage repair and taking the time to properly complete and restore the entire area.

From identifying the problem → repairing the drain tile → testing the system → installing proper drainage material → rebuilding the grade → and restoring the lawn…

Another project completed from start to finish!

Complete Front Landscape Revamp by Lake Vibe Landscaping!

Here’s another project we completed earlier this season that we wanted to finally share!

For this property, our client was looking to give the entire front landscape a fresh start. Rather than simply cleaning up what was already there, we worked through the existing landscape, removed outdated and unwanted plant material, and created a cleaner, more intentional design that will continue looking better as the new plants mature.

🤗Starting With a Clean Slate

We began by removing the old bushes and unwanted plant material throughout the front landscape beds. From there, the entire area received a deep w**ding and cleanup to remove existing w**d growth and prepare the beds for their new look.

Once everything was cleaned out, we applied pre-emergent w**d prevention to help reduce future w**d growth and make the landscape easier for the homeowner to maintain.

🌳 New Plant Material & Landscape Design

With the beds prepared, we brought in a variety of new plant material to create a combination of height, color, texture, and year-round interest.

The new landscape included:

• A beautiful grafted Japanese maple as a focal point
• Skyrocket juniper for upright structure and height
• Three Limelight hydrangeas for larger seasonal blooms
• Vinca minor for lower-growing groundcover
• Heuchera to add additional color and texture throughout the beds

We also worked with some of the property’s existing mature plant material rather than simply removing everything. Several of the larger boxwoods were carefully trimmed and shaped into a rounded, ball-style appearance, helping give the front landscape a cleaner and more manicured look.

🏡 Converting Unneeded Landscape Back to Lawn

Part of a good landscape renovation is also recognizing when an existing bed simply doesn’t need to be there anymore.

We removed three additional plants from one section of the landscape and converted that area back into lawn, simplifying the property and creating a cleaner transition between the landscaping and surrounding grass.

💧 Sprinkler Adjustments for the New Landscape

Our work didn’t stop once the plants were in the ground.

We also made the necessary sprinkler system adjustments to ensure the newly installed plant material would receive the water it needed to properly establish and succeed.

For us, installation is only one part of the process. We want to make sure we’re giving new plant material the best opportunity to establish, mature, and become a long-term part of the property.

🙇🏽‍♂️This Is What Lake Vibe Landscaping Specializes In

Not every property needs to be completely redesigned from the ground up. Sometimes it takes the right combination of removal, deep cleaning, pruning, new plant material, bed adjustments, and attention to the small details to completely change the appearance of a home.

Projects like this are a great example of what Lake Vibe Landscaping specializes in — helping homeowners take an existing landscape that may feel overgrown, outdated, or difficult to maintain and turning it into something cleaner, refreshed, and designed with the future in mind.

Whether you’re looking for a complete landscape revamp or simply want to bring some new life back into an existing property, we’d love to help bring your vision to life.

You ever wonder how Landscape company bills their clients 🤔take a look at this comparison that we Lake Vibe landscaping put together🙇🏽‍♂️😊 hopefully this will give you some insight on choosing the right company that will fit your needs

When you start looking into landscape projects, one of the biggest questions is always: "What does it cost, and where is my money actually going?"
We believe in complete transparency. Across West Michigan, the average market rate for professional landscaping labor generally ranges from $50 to $100+ per man-hour depending on the equipment needed. Companies must bill at these rates to cover massive overhead, commercial heavy machinery, licensing, and liability insurances.
At our company, we keep our operations lean, efficient, and highly focused so we can pass those savings directly on to you! Our standard rate is locked in at just $45 per man-hour for general landscape installations. When it comes to specialized hardscaping and heavy machinery projects, our rate is only $55 per man-hour.
What does that mean for your budget? It means you get fully insured, professional-grade craftsmanship at a rate that sits comfortably below the regional average. No hidden fees, no bloated overhead markup—just honest, hard work to bring your backyard vision to life.
📌 How 'Man-Hours' Work on Your Project:
To help you plan, remember that labor is calculated by the total hours worked per person on-site. A larger crew means your project gets finished in a fraction of the time:
• 1-Person Crew: 8 hours of on-site progress = 8 man-hours billed.
• 2-Person Crew: 4 hours of on-site progress = 8 man-hours billed.
• 3-Person Crew: 2.6 hours of on-site progress = 8 man-hours billed.
Whether you are looking to install clean new garden beds, fresh sod, a beautiful new brick patio, or structural hardscaping, we are ready to build it right.

Another Hillside Transformation by Lake Vibe Landscaping!

Here’s another project we recently completed that was designed not only to improve the appearance of the property, but also to provide our client with a much easier long-term maintenance solution.

For this hillside, we installed over 150 flats of pachysandra, with 24 individual plants per flat — that’s more than 3,600 individual pachysandra plants!

A Long-Term Solution for a Difficult Hillside

Rather than continuing to mow or w**d-whip this steep area, our goal was to eventually turn the hillside into a naturally spreading groundcover.

For this particular project, instead of our more typical 6-inch spacing, we installed the pachysandra approximately 11 inches apart. Each planting location was drilled into the hillside and individually planted.

The wider spacing gives each plant room to establish and spread while still providing thousands of individual starting points throughout the hill. As the pachysandra continues to mature and fill in, the goal is for it to create a thick, established groundcover that significantly reduces the need for mowing and w**d whipping on the hillside.

Railroad Tie Steps for Better Access

We also installed a new set of railroad tie steps running up the hillside, providing the client with a safer and more convenient way to access the upper portion of the property.

Additional Plantings for Color & Character

To give the hillside more than just groundcover, we incorporated a variety of additional plants along both sides of the new steps, including:

• Allium
• Liriope
• Daylilies
• Sage

These plants help frame the staircase while adding different textures, heights, and seasonal color throughout the landscape.

Designed With the Future in Mind

One of the most rewarding parts about a project like this is knowing that the landscape will continue getting better with time.

Pachysandra isn’t an instant-finished product. As these 3,600+ individual plants establish their root systems and begin spreading, the hillside will continue becoming fuller and more uniform.

By next growing season, we expect this property to really begin showing the results of all the work that went into it — and as the plants continue maturing, this hillside should be looking mint!

At Lake Vibe Landscaping, we don’t just look at what a property looks like today. We also consider how the landscape can develop over time and how we can make maintaining it easier for the homeowner.

Less mowing. Less w**d whipping. Easier hillside access. More plants. More character. And a landscape designed to get better every season.

Another Client Vision Brought to Life by Lake Vibe Landscaping!

Here’s another recent project where our goal was to take the client’s vision from one side of their pool area and carry that same look over to the opposite side, creating a more complete and balanced landscape.

Because of the change in elevation on this side of the property, simply installing the stone and plant material wasn’t going to be enough. We needed to create a way to properly retain the material and keep the new landscape secure over time.

Koda Block Retaining Wall

We started by constructing a new retaining wall using Kota block. This allowed us to create the proper elevation while providing the support needed to hold the 1–2 inch landscape stone, topsoil, and new planting area securely in place.

Drainage Outlet Extension

With the new retaining wall being installed, we also needed to make an adjustment to the existing drainage system. The drain outlet was extended farther beyond the new wall, allowing the drainage system to continue functioning properly without interfering with the newly constructed landscape.

New Plant Installation

Once the wall and drainage work were completed, we began bringing the client’s landscape vision together by installing a combination of:

• Ornamental grasses
• Lavender plants
• A beautiful weeping cherry blossom tree

These selections helped us recreate the appearance and character of the existing landscaping on the opposite side of the pool.

Topsoil, Stone & Final Grading

We then backfilled behind the retaining wall with topsoil, established the proper grade, and finished the new landscape bed with 1–2 inch decorative stone.

Along the front of the retaining wall, fresh topsoil was installed and graded into the surrounding lawn. We finished the disturbed areas with high-quality grass seed and pin mulch to help restore the lawn and create a clean transition into the new wall.

—The Final Result—

By working with the existing elevation rather than against it, we were able to take the landscaping from one side of the pool and carry that same design and presentation over to the other side.

What started as an uneven area is now a more complete landscape featuring a new retaining wall, improved drainage, ornamental plantings, decorative stone, and lawn restoration.

At Lake Vibe Landscaping, we enjoy taking a homeowner’s vision and figuring out the details necessary to make that vision work with the property.

Sometimes that means more than simply adding plants and stone — it means addressing elevation, drainage, structural support, grading, and finishing details so everything comes together the way it should.

A Little More About Lake Vibe Landscaping & What We Do

We wanted to take a moment to give our current and future clients a little clarification about Lake Vibe Landscaping, the services we provide, and the type of company we strive to be.

Lake Vibe Landscaping is a licensed and insured company, and we are also accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). We are a small, locally operated landscaping company focused primarily on helping homeowners maintain, improve, and transform their properties.

Some of the services we provide include:

• Property maintenance contracts
• Full-property and landscape bed w**ding
• Spring and fall shrub and bush trimming
• Landscape cleanups and seasonal maintenance
• Mowing services for select smaller properties
• Plant and shrub installation
• Landscape renovations and complete property refreshes
• Drain tile repair and drainage solutions
• French drain installation
• Hillside erosion control
• Smaller retaining wall and hardscape projects
• Timber retaining wall installation and repair
• Topsoil, grading, grass seed and lawn restoration
• Landscape design on select projects, typically followed by installation performed by our company

When it comes to retaining walls and hardscaping, we tend to specialize more heavily in timber retaining walls than large-scale brick, block, or paver projects.

There are also certain services that we do not provide, including professional lawn fertilization programs and large tree removals/cutdowns. If something falls outside of what we specialize in, we would rather be upfront with our clients than take on work that is better suited for another professional.

For the most part, however, we consider ourselves a full-service residential landscape company capable of handling many of the projects homeowners simply may not have the time, equipment, or manpower to complete themselves.

One thing that is especially important to us is the personal attention we provide each client and each property.

We understand that the cheapest estimate isn’t always the best value. Our focus is on providing professionalism, communication, quality workmanship, and attention to detail from the beginning of a project through the final walkthrough.

We don’t want to simply finish a job and immediately move on to the next one.

Before we consider a project complete, we want to make sure every part of the agreed-upon project has been addressed, questions have been answered, concerns have been discussed, and our client understands and feels comfortable with the finished work.

At the end of the day, it’s your home and your property. Our job is to listen to your vision and use our experience to help bring that vision to life.

If you’re looking for a small, local landscaping company that values its homeowners and takes pride in giving each property individual attention, Lake Vibe Landscaping may be exactly what you’re looking for.

Feel free to reach out and tell us what you have in mind. We’d be happy to discuss your property, your ideas, and how Lake Vibe Landscaping may be able to help.

Drainage Problem? We Can Help. | Lake Vibe Landscaping

For this project, our client was experiencing an issue with an existing drain tile system that was supposed to carry water away from the home and toward the drainage basin at the end of the property.

We began by uncovering and inspecting the existing drain tile, where we discovered that a section of the pipe had broken and was preventing the system from functioning properly.

From there, we carefully excavated the damaged area, removed the compromised section, and repaired the drainage line with new straight pipe, reconnecting it to the existing system leading toward the basin at the end of the property.

Before covering anything back up, we tested the drainage system and checked the water flow to make sure everything was moving properly through the repaired pipe and continuing away from the house as intended.

Once we confirmed the system was functioning correctly, we backfilled and restored the excavated area, followed by fresh grass seed and pin mulch to help protect the seed, retain moisture, and encourage the lawn to grow back over the repaired section.

At Lake Vibe Landscaping, we handle a variety of drainage projects, including:

—Existing drain tile repairs
—New drain tile installation
—French drain systems for wet or saturated areas
—Drainage solutions around foundations
—Systems designed to redirect water away from homes and problem areas

Proper drainage can make a major difference in protecting your lawn, landscaping, and foundation from unwanted water.

If you’re dealing with standing water, saturated areas, or a drainage system that isn’t working properly, feel free to reach out to Lake Vibe Landscaping and ask us about your options!

Another Front Landscape Refresh Completed by Lake Vibe Landscaping!

For this project, we gave the entire front landscape a complete refresh and renovation, bringing new life to the property while working with the homeowner’s vision for the space.

We started by thoroughly de-w**ding and cleaning out the existing landscape beds. From there, we re-dug and reset the existing landscape edging to create clean, defined lines throughout the front of the home.

We also rebuilt the small timber retaining wall supporting the AC unit, giving that area a cleaner, more secure, and finished appearance.

Once the preparation was complete, we:

-Installed new plant material throughout the landscape
-Applied w**d prevention to help control future w**d growth
-Installed fresh mulch throughout the beds for a clean, finished appearance
-Watered in all of the new plant material with plant food and transplanting solution to encourage healthy root development and establishment

Sometimes a property doesn’t need to be completely started over—it just needs the right preparation, new plant material, and finishing touches to give it an entirely different look.

This was another quick property refresh completed by Lake Vibe Landscaping, and these are the types of projects we always enjoy. There’s something rewarding about taking an existing landscape, giving it a complete renovation, and providing our clients with a fresh new look for their home while bringing their vision to life.

Have a landscape that could use a refresh? Feel free to reach out to Lake Vibe Landscaping and tell us about your vision!
