**Tuesday, April 28th** | Following this morning's cluster of thunderstorms that moved across West-Central and Northwest Texas, we are now observing the storm activity shifting north of the Red River. We will need to monitor this trend to see if the storms will "hug" the Red River into Northeast Texas or if any new storms develop in the area through early afternoon. If new storms do form, they could bring severe weather, including very large hail, strong winds, and the potential for tornadoes.

As we head into the afternoon, we anticipate significant severe storm development between 1 PM and 3 PM along a boundary left over from this morning's storms, likely just south of the Red River in the Texoma, North Texas, and Northeast Texas regions. These storms will likely become supercell thunderstorms and start moving east/southeast. There is a risk of destructive hail, damaging winds, and possibly a few tornadoes associated with these storms. This threat will continue as the storms move southeast into the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex by late afternoon or early evening. A cluster of storms may organize from the initial storms and could persist, slowly moving southeast across parts of North and Northeast Texas tonight. Localized flooding is also a strong possibility, as these storms will produce heavy rainfall.

The timing and specific locations impacted may shift, and it’s possible the storms won't develop until later, possibly around dinner time. However, once they begin, they are expected to be quite intense. We will provide LIVE TEXAS STORM COVERAGE once this afternoon's storms start.

Another tornado risk today and tonight across the Southern Plains! Today's tornado risk is lower than Saturday due to less confidence in storm initiation and slightly lower levels of low level shear, however, naturally, low level shear will increase around sunset and thereafter as the low-level jet kicks in, so if storms are ongoing at this point, the tornado risk would increase some. If storms develop today, they'd likely become severe, producing very large hail, wind and possibly tornadoes. The dryline from north Texas into central Oklahoma will be a point of interest to watch, the triple point in northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas will be another area to watch and where there's higher confidence in storm initiation, and finally, residual outflow boundaries across north Texas and southern and eastern Oklahoma. Any of these areas could lead to storm development today. The outflow boundaries across north Texas and southern Oklahoma need to be monitored for interactions with the dryline, which could increase the chance for storm initiation. If storms develop, they will likely isolated in nature so most folks do not see severe weather, but those who do, it could be damaging. Stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings

Several ESE-moving tornadic supercells are increasingly likely over the next several hours across north Texas and southern Oklahoma! Stay weather aware

🚨3:45pm- significant Tornado parameters are going up across the moderate risk area of S OK and Far NE N Texas. I am currently in route to Denison or the Choctaw World Casino area. This area will stay closely tied to a boundary in the area. The boundary has been fairly stationary this afternoon.

One of many tools that get used to help determine Significant Tornado Potential is this, which essentially is a composite taking various factors such as shear and instability to help determine the higher potential for significant tornadoes if a storm were in that environment.

Any storm that develops and matures this afternoon and evening has the potential to produce very large hail! The best chance for hail is from southern north Texas into central and south-central Texas. This is where lime to tennis ball size hail will be possible. Elsewhere, hail will be smaller - generally smaller than ping pong balls. If storms can develop along the dryline, tennis ball size hail would be possible in western Oklahoma and northwest Texas but the storm development potential is uncertain in this area.
