Happy Sunday Folks.
I want to clear the air on something for all
of our current and future customers.
The point of overseeding/aeration or in our case “aeravation” in the fall is to begin establishing a root system for the newly sown seed you are putting down. It’s also to bust up compaction, and allow essential nutrients to pe*****te beneath the surface of the soil.
This process is largely to prepare your yard for springtime. Could you see new grass before the holidays? SURE, especially if you water aggressively. BUT. The overarching goal is to establish a root system now. So we see results later (in the spring).
That being said TIMING isn’t necessarily irrelevant. However, I have sown yards from 9/1 all the way to 4/1 and seen results. The longer it has to work the better (which is why spring seeding is typically a last ditch effort). The way leaves are removed from properties in the fall are the only factors I would consider for how you time your seeding (if heavily wooded, you may consider earlier to avoid having to bag or blow leaves on freshly seeded soil). EVEN THEN, BECAUSE WE AERAVATE, seed has made it in the soil and won’t be disturbed even by that. At large.
Seed can sit on your property for 90 + days and still work.
There are so many thought processes on this floating around. I just wanted to share ours.
Do we want to time everyone’s with rain? Of course. However, if we base anything we do on the forecast, we will be waiting till christmas. Moral of the story, seed it. and do it between now and christmas. much love 🤜🏼🤛🏼.
Here’s a new property going under the aeravation process I drop the seed and aeravate going forward. then drop the seed and aeravate going backwards. Seed goes in, seed goes on top. NEXT LEVEL!
We won’t stop till the calls stop. Happy to seed all the way till christmas. Holler at us! 336-908-2619
