Last month marked 4 YEARS of Vance Fabrication LLC. ❤️
We let the anniversary slip by without saying much, but with so many new faces following our page, I thought it might be a good time to share our story again—and more importantly, the why behind this business.
Before Vance Fabrication, our life looked very different.
We were living in Tonasket. I was working a full-time union job with benefits and taking care of the kids during the week while Dallas worked in Colville. He would come home on the weekends, and then we'd do it all over again the next week.
In 2021, we both had this overwhelming feeling that something needed to change.
We wanted our kids to grow up with both parents present. We wanted more time together as a family. We wanted to pull our kids out of public school and homeschool them. And ultimately, we wanted to build a life where our family—not someone else's schedule—was the priority.
So we did something that, looking back, was probably a little crazy. 😂
We started Vance Fabrication LLC.
I quit my full-time union job—with benefits.
We sold our house.
We moved to Colville.
And we moved our entire family...kids, dog and all...into a 5th wheel while we started homeschooling and tried to build a business from the ground up.
And let me tell you...
That first year was BRUTAL. 😂
There were definitely moments when we looked at each other and thought, WHAT WERE WE THINKING?!
Starting a business isn't glamorous. There have been long days, late nights, stressful bids, jobs that didn't go as planned, financial worries, sacrifices, lessons learned the hard way, and plenty of figuring things out as we went.
But four years later, I can honestly say I wouldn't change it.
Today, I'm able to be a stay-at-home mom, homeschool our kids, run our little farm/ranch and handle the behind-the-scenes side of Vance Fabrication. Dallas has built an incredible crew and continues to work his tail off building this company. And this year, watching our son Wyatt graduate and come to work full-time alongside his dad has been one of those full-circle moments that reminds us exactly why we started.
Are we rich?
Not even close. 😂
But I think we've become rich in a different way.
We're rich in family time.
We're rich in being present for our kids.
We're rich in having the freedom to make our own schedules.
We're rich in watching our kids grow up knowing what hard work, sacrifice and building something from nothing looks like.
And somehow, that crazy leap we took four years ago has turned into a business that supports our family and provides jobs for other families, too.
That isn't something we take lightly.
