What have we been up to over here??? Well, January started out with a couple of big snow storms back to back, followed by more than a week of subzero temps. The dogs played in the snow, and the birds have all been quite literally “cooped up” until the hard freeze passes. In the meantime, I brought out my new sewing machine and made something for the first time in probably 20 years! Some new chicken saddles for my girls. We also scored a pile of free windows that will be used in the springtime to transform my raised garden beds into mini greenhouse boxes! Even through these frigid temps, my girls are out there producing some beautiful, tasty eggs!

Our 4 month old turkeys are bigger than their mama and they follow me like puppy dogs.
Although fall is approaching quickly, there are still signs of summer in the field of flowers.
Dogs are getting their fill of swims in the river.

A few weeks ago our mama Turkey, Lucy, decided to go broody in a nest she made on the very edge of our property. So every evening at dusk I have to walk her from the neighbors yard all the way back down to the coop. At least the view of the sunsets is beautiful from up there 🥰
