Barnhart Excavating

Barnhart Excavating Barnhart Excavating is an excavation company located just south of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Barnhart’s have been in the excavation business for over 75 years.

Bret, Jr is the 4th generation Barnhart to own his own excavating company. Bret’s great-grandfather Herb Barnhart started his company in the 1930’s with mules and slips. Today we use the latest GPS technology to complete our jobs with accuracy and efficiency. We are proud and extremely honored to continue the remarkable legacy created by the Barnhart family.

Earthwork is not just moving dirt around.

It takes planning, coordination, grade control, and crews paying attention to the details every step of the way. From cuts and fills to moisture, compaction, and elevations, the work done early on impacts everything that comes after it.

Precision early in a project helps keep schedules moving, prevents problems later, and creates a solid foundation for the rest of the job.

Storm infrastructure going in and crews putting in the work that will keep the site functioning long term. A lot of what makes a project successful happens underground before the finished product is ever seen.

A lot has changed over the years, but the expectations have stayed the same. Work hard, treat people right, and build something that lasts.

That’s how Barnhart Excavating became a fourth-generation construction company. The photo above is a throwback of Bret Barnhart Sr. back in the day.

We are proud of where we came from and the people who helped build the foundation before us. That legacy is something we do not take lightly.

Steady production over flashy moments.

Just field work getting done and crews staying consistent.

If 23 years in business has taught us anything, it’s that making decisions with only the short term in mind usually creates long term problems.

Cutting corners, avoiding hard conversations, or making decisions based only on convenience may help in the moment, but it rarely holds up over time.

No regrets means making disciplined decisions that protect our people, our relationships, and our future.

That applies to how we run jobs, how we communicate with customers, and how we lead our teams. We want to handle things the right way now, so we are not looking back later wishing we would have communicated better or held ourselves to a higher standard.

That mindset is what helps build work and relationships that last.

Getting it where it needs to go.

Trucking, hauling, and keeping things moving, even before the sun comes up.

It’s not always seen, but it’s a big part of keeping jobs on track.

We believe in starting the day with a plan.

Our superintendents walk through the work with their crews before they get going to make sure everyone is aligned and ready. Alex leading his crew here is a good example of that.

It’s a simple part of the day, but it’s what keeps things moving and helps avoid problems before they start.
