Fountain of youth!

2 years ago we filmed this video. Tried convincing everyone that drinking the premium oil-based stain from EXPERT Stain & Seal Supply was the secret to staying young.

Fast forward to today- he is still keeping us young.

​Removing old, failed water-based stains is no easy task, but as you can see in the middle photo, we don't cut corners. We strip it completely back down to the bare, healthy wood so that the new premium finish can bond perfectly and last for years to come.

Hard work pays off!

​We took on a deck that had an old Cabot stain on it. After our first strip, we discovered a heavy, waxy buildup left behind in the wood grain.
​To do the job right, we had to apply a second round of wood stripper to completely pull that wax out of the boards. Once the buildup was gone, we sanded the entire surface with 80-grit to give us a completely clean, blank canvas.

​To finish it off, we applied Expert Stain & Seal's Semi-Solid Sable.
​Take a look at the top vs. bottom. See the difference a deep, proper restoration makes.

Easy? Only when you respect the process.

​This is the power of a proper dwell time. A quick scratch test showed the old stain and organic growth were completely broken down and ready to let go.

That is one of the boards we had to pull off the deck during today's restoration project.
​When a deck is left without protection against the Wisconsin weather for years, the constant cycle of absorbing water and baking in the sun does more than just cause mold and algae, It also causes severe structural warping. This board was so badly bowed and twisted that it was completely beyond saving.
​True deck restoration isn't just about putting down chemicals and washing away the gray. It’s about making sure the deck is sound and safe to walk on.
​We swapped this warped piece out for a fresh, straight board before moving forward with our stripping and brightening process. Now the deck is clean and ready for sanding.
