In late April. I contracted with Handyman Miguel Morales to remove three 25-foot tall trees from my property. The trees were leaning at a 70-degree tilt after strong winds followed heavy rains in the latter part of 2020. Miguel and I discussed the removal after he looked the project over and he offered a fair estimate for the work.
The work proceeded in early May and the two principal woodsmen, Dwayne Gibbs and George Mazmanian, had two of the trees down the first day. Conflicting work schedules caused our woodsmen to delay the completion of our project, but their other responsibilities didn't result in any problems for us. On May 7, Dwayne and George finished the cutting of the trees and branches and took the first of two loads to the dump. The following day, May 8, the last load was cut and sent to the dump and a crew of finish workers appeared and cleaned up the work site.
This group of professionals were remarkable for their hard work and obvious concern for our neighborhood. During this project, we were visited by a female turtle who was looking for a safe place to lay her eggs. The workers took care not to invade the Mama Turtle's space and she eventually laid 6 or 7 eggs in the soil. Following the creation of her nest, Mama started to cross the highway going toward the drain canal on the opposite side of the road. Dwayne gave Mama an es**rt so she wouldn't be endangered by the vehicle drivers who often don't seem to care for wildlife. We will look forward to Mama's return to the egg nest when the young turtles are ready to explore their world.
I would gladly hire Miguel's workers any time we need work done to perfection at a reasonable price.
