Great turnout at the Outer Banks Home Builders Association Trade Expo today! 🏠

Events like this are a great reminder of how many talented local trade professionals it takes to build and maintain homes here on the Outer Banks. From builders and contractors to vendors and specialists, homeowners had the chance to meet the people behind the work and explore the possibilities for their homes and properties.

🔨 Tip Tuesday: Secure Those Joists!

Did you know? Joists that aren’t properly toe-nailed (or otherwise fastened) are a serious safety hazard. 😬

If your joists aren’t securely attached, they can shift or pull away from the beam — putting your deck’s structure and your safety at risk.

✅ Pro Tip:
Always make sure your joists are fastened using the correct hardware — whether that’s joist hangers, screws, or properly driven nails at an angle. A solid connection means a stronger, longer-lasting deck!
