KILLEN AL POLICE SAY: JUST DONT!!!
🚨 Community Safety Alert – Killen Police Department
The Killen Police Department has received reports of a dangerous activity circulating among some local high school students, specifically seniors, referred to as an “assassination game.”
Participants reportedly attempt to “eliminate” others using airsoft, BB, or paintball guns, with the last participant remaining receiving prize money.
Let us be clear: this behavior can constitute criminal activity.
Discharging these types of weapons at people, vehicles, homes, or in public areas can result in criminal charges, including but not limited to assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief/property damage. The fact that participants consider it a “game” does not prevent criminal charges from being filed.
Additionally, someone pointing what appears to be a weapon can create a very dangerous situation. A citizen or responding officer may believe the weapon is real and react accordingly, putting everyone involved at serious risk.
Parents, please speak with your children about this activity. Participation in this type of behavior can lead to serious legal consequences, regardless of age. It may also have a negative impact on school discipline, graduation eligibility, and future college or career opportunities.
As we approach Spring Break and the upcoming graduation season, this should be an exciting and memorable time for our students and families. We want everyone to enjoy this season safely and without incidents that could affect their future.
Please make good decisions, look out for one another, and help us keep our community safe.
We encourage you to share this with other parents, and strongly encourage you to have a conversation with your child about it.
For clarification: Our office has received concerns about this activity and the potential for injury or property damage. This post is intended to make parents aware so they can discuss safety and good judgment with their children. Our priority is simply preventing situations that could put someone at risk.
