It's day 4 of Invasive Species Week, and Japanese knotweed is the invasive species on the hot seat. A fun fact about Japanese knotweed: one of the reasons it was introduced was to use the plant as natural fencing to provide privacy amongst neighbors. The plant grows tall and dense, making a natural barrier. However, Japanese knotweed has become out of control and can damage buildings. When controlling Japanese knotweed, DO NOT cut or mow. The species has complicated rhizome structures that will cause the plant to grow back worse than before if not treated properly.

HELP WANTED:

Laborer. Must have clean driving record and pass a pre-employment drug test. Must be able to travel throughout New England for projects.

Pay is based on experience. A pesticide certification is a plus in MA, CT, and RI for applying herbicides. Knowledge of small equipment used for light excavation and some light forestry work is also helpful. We cover hotel expenses when traveling and generally you will ride in company vehicle to get to and from jobs when out of town.
