Cory Farrell Electric

Cory Farrell Electric Local residential & commercial electrical contractor for the TX hill country, & Highland Lakes areas.

Cory Farrell Electric, LLC., was founded in 2014 by Cory and Desirae Farrell in Austin, Texas. After spending the previous 6.5 years doing industrial electrical work for an electrician/instrumentation contractor, Cory knew he wanted to build his own electrical company where he would have the chance to be hands on with his customers. Moving to Kyle, Texas in 2015 was a successful move and began the

journey of of raising a family and growing a business in a thriving local economy. They later moved to Dripping Springs TX to continue to grow the business in the community where Cory grew up. Having faith in God, and living and working according to His word is paramount. Cory and Desirae live by the motto God first, family second and self third. Cory Farrell Electric serves the hill country and South Austin area in residential and commercial maintenance and service. These are managed by a highly knowledgeable and experienced Master electrician. Providing reliable electrical services, and customer satisfaction at a fair price is the number one priority! Follow me as I take you on a tour of a new project. We will rebuild the service and run power, controls, and hydraulic lines, lighting, and more. Wouldn’t be here today if it were not for Brian Andell. One day I hope to be that retired electrician guiding the next generation into greatness.

💔 To Our Neighbors Affected by the Flooding

Our hearts are with everyone in the Texas Hill Country who have been impacted by the devastating flooding. We know some of you have lost homes, vehicles, and even loved ones — and we’re grieving alongside our community.

As cleanup continues, we want to share something important for your safety:

⚠️ If your home or business experienced flooding, please do NOT turn the power back on or try to handle electrical systems yourself. Water and electricity are a deadly combination, and even something that looks fine may be unsafe.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation is urging everyone to have any water-damaged electrical equipment inspected by a licensed electrician before use.
This guide from the National Electrical Manufacturers Association can help you understand what may be salvageable and what should be replaced:

If you’re not sure what to do or where to start, we’re here to help — even if it’s just to answer questions. Our goal is to help you and your family stay safe as you recover and rebuild.

With care,
Cory Farrell

Revenge of the "Breaker Box Gecko from Hell"

I will get calls for breakers or panels catching fire every year after our first freeze. This year, we haven't even dipped into the sustained freezing temps, and I have already rebuilt three services due to one nasty little critter that I have dubbed the "breaker box gecko from hell."

During cold snaps, small geckos will invade electrical breaker boxes to find warmth behind the breakers, where they attach to the live parts of the panel. In doing so, they inadvertently electrocute themselves. They will cause a phase-to-phase fault and cause arcing, eventually leading to melted electrical components or a fire.

Solution? Make sure there are no openings on any side of your panel. Also, check to make sure the breakers are not missing. If you see openings in a panel, using a KO (knockout) seal or a breaker filler plate is best.

If you smell any burning or hear any crackling sounds from your breaker box, it would be best to turn off the power immediately and call me! Don't let this gecko from hell cost you thousands of dollars in repairs!
