Fred Schaeffer, “Father of the Walkway,” was recognized with the unveiling of a plaque in his honor on April 12th. For decades, Fred has been tireless in promoting his vision of transforming the abandoned Poughkeepsie-Highland railroad bridge into the world-class attraction it is today. He calls it “the friendliest park in the world,” and it really feels that way – because of the standard he has set for so many years. Thank you, Fred!
