Sometimes the best spaces in a house are actually outside of it.

On our project in Hudson, we paired a historic facade renovation with a new roof deck and bulkhead to access it. This new roof space will add more than 1000 SF of usable area to this home, without compromising the unique character of the building.

The KCLB purchased underused or abandoned building stock in Kingston, a works with architects and builders like Dynamism to rebuild the properties as affordable and sustainable homes.

One of the easiest ways to practice sustainable design is by using what’s already there.

In the case of our Kingston Transitional home, we seamlessly merged the old with the new.

The existing cottage was ravaged by fire and needed to be completely reimagined.

We retained the existing stone structure and retrofit it to meet modern building science goals. Then, paired it with a modern expansion that celebrated the historic story of the home, but brought it up to contemporary standards.
