Once the subgrade is ready, it’s time for fine grading, aggregate, and COMPACTION. This is NOT the place to cut corners. What you do underneath the asphalt will show up on top—and a solid, properly compacted base is key to a smooth finished surface.

Do it right from the ground up. That’s how you get pavement built to last.

What a beautiful reminder of just how much good there is in our community.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out yesterday to support Kinston Gives Back by purchasing BBQ and BBQ Chicken plates—and an extra special thank you to everyone who stopped by the EESP shop!

Y’all showed up in a BIG way! We ran out of plates three different times, but thankfully, Brooke kept us restocked in a jiffy!

One thing we heard over and over throughout the day was, “Keep the change—it’s for a good cause.” Those few words said so much. The generosity, kindness, and willingness to help one another was truly heartwarming.

Sometimes it feels like we hear far more about what’s wrong with Kinston than what’s right. But yesterday was a reminder of what we already know: there are SO many good people here. People who show up. People who give. People who care about their neighbors.

Days like yesterday make us incredibly proud to call Kinston home and even prouder to be part of a community that comes together when someone needs a helping hand.

Thank you, Kinston. You showed what community is all about.

🚨 PSA: CHECK ON YOUR ASPHALT & HEAVY EQUIPMENT WORKERS! 🚨

If you think it’s hot sitting in the shade today, imagine standing over 275° asphalt with the sun beating down on you. 🥵

The heat index was over 100° in Kinston this afternoon, and Mother Nature clearly woke up with a nasty attitude today.

Meanwhile, these guys are out there paving, running equipment, shoveling, raking and doing the kind of work that makes the rest of us start sweating just watching them.

So if you see an asphalt or heavy equipment crew today, give them a little extra grace, a cold bottle of water, or at least a wave instead of complaining about having to wait! 😂

Sometimes the real problem is hidden beneath the surface.

What looked like failing concrete turned out to be a sign of a much bigger issue below. Our crew cut out and removed the damaged concrete, excavated the area, and tracked down the source of the problem. After repairing the existing catch basin and drainage pipes, we backfilled and compacted the area before pouring new concrete that seamlessly ties into the existing parking lot.

When it comes to drainage issues, fixing the symptom isn’t enough—you have to solve the root cause.

Paving isn’t always long straight pulls.

This walking track threw in a few challenges—a curve to navigate and a low hanging tree to work around—but our crew handled it like pros. What could’ve been tricky turned into evidence of teamwork!
