Harvest Moon Garden Design Edible landscaping for homes and businesses. Local food production and sustainable landscape practic

Harvest Moon Garden Design is an offshoot of Kent's Landscaping and is focused mainly on bringing garden and food systems to homes and businesses in the East King county area. As future food production will be uncertain being tied to dwindling resources, such as oil and water, our own food security will likely be more determined by local efforts of communities and neighborhoods. Each of us will h

ave an opportunity to decide the direction of our food resources. By installing food producing gardens and sharing our growing experience with each other, we can make a healthier environment and community a reality for all of us right now. Together we are working towards building a more eco friendly community by learning and sharing sustainable gardening in our own neighborhoods. We believes that everyone has the right to a sound healthy and sustainable food diet, free of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms), and want to be able to work with a diversity of people, businesses and community groups to help create real working systems to achieve these goals. Conservation is also a priority in our business and we will work to offer some simple products and services to help reduce our limited resources.

Today is Winter Soltice, the longest night of the year. Often thought of a night of kinship and reflection, with the simple truth that each following day will be a little lighter.

β€œthe Solstice is a time of quietude, of firelight, and dreaming, when seeds germinate in the cold earth, and the cold notes of church bells mingle with the chimes of icicles. Rivers are stilled and the land lies waiting beneath a coverlet of snow. We watch the cold sunlight and the bright stars, maybe go for walks in the quiet land.... All around us the season seems to reach a standstill β€” a point of repose.”
Words from John Mathews, historian for Celtic traditions.
Enjoy this special, magical day.
