Every year I say I’m going have all the seeds started in the greenhouse by Feb 1. Between Christmas gall bladder surgery followed by a rare spinal infection, osteomyelitis which had me down for a good part of the winter, that goal again did not happen. But Spring is here, asparagus came up, the Asian pear tree bloomed with the promise of a bountiful harvest again for such a young tree, radishes, peas, fava, and squash went in a little late, and got plenty varieties of basil and tomatoes started, along with some new herbs like warm tolerant Russian tarragon, and Peruvian Black Mint (actually in marigold family and from a new NC seed source). Despite going in late and not yet having a big post transplant growth spurt, the Costata Romanesco squash know Spring is here and are starting to bloom anyway. Nature knows and marches on despite our efforts.
