It a wonderful feeling not having to do everything yourself. The only thing i had to do to this set of 8 chairs was open the boxes, check that the fabric was correct and inspect the final product. I had no doubt they would look fantastic. Chrysi Ann Forton ( )has been with us for almost 5 years now and it's been pretty great having her here. It has been wonderful to watch her grow as an upholsterer and a person. While at the same time, she has helps us grow as people and as a business. Having employees is not easy. It's not cheap and it's not easy, did i say that? But it is a chance to share and learn from each other. Something you can't get working alone. I spent the first 18 years of my upholstery career solo. Now after several years of having employees I'm not sure i could go back.

Most of the time we are doing run-of-the-mill furniture. Living room sets, dining chairs and the like. Occasionally we get a real heirloom. A piece that just stops us all and we fall in love. This rocker is definitely that piece. It's both simple and elegant. Truly a beautiful combination of furniture and art. This one has an interesting story. It's been with the same family since it was retrieved from a dump during the Great depression. Some time in the late 60's/ early 70's it was reupholstered with grandma's needlepoint. That was the last time it was upholstered. Getting this old girl back into her glory was long overdue. The client wanted to retain the needlepoint, so we were tasked with carefully removing it and figuring out a way to reincorporate it back into the piece. After a much need visit to the woodshop it was ready to be put back together. We cut away the damage off both the seat and back needlepoint. Then trimmed the back with black leather and converted the seat covering into a pillow. The client was so happy to have a usable rocker that still had the touches her family added all those years ago. No longer in the basement, it now holds a prominent place in their home and in their hearts. And that rocking mechanism is so simple and so wonderful. I've never seen anything like it and probably won't again. It looks simple but there were definitely some challenges. Chrysi did a great job getting this back together.

We don’t always know exactly what lies beneath the surface. This long chair is a great example. Upon initial inspection we noticed the arms were a little loose but in reality the entire frame was being held together by the fabric. 2 layers of fabric to be exact. We got everything off, got it broken down, glued up and now recovered. I did most of the frame work and Lindsey did the upholstery. Together we made this little old chair brand new again. I love working with a team.

Jesica is an amazing and wonderful leader, boss, friend, mother, wife, partner and woman. But what she isn't is one for being the center of attention. She certainly doesn't enjoy public speaking. But please take a minute, literally, to listen to her accept this award from for Women Owned Business of the Year. She really does make this a great business and a great place to work and I'm lucky to be a part of it.

She is so pretty in pink! This chair was loved, almost to death, by the same family for over 45 years. It's seen kids, grand kids, cats, dogs, and more naps than anyone could count. It ended up in a garage because it was too sentimental to part with. The client decided on a thick waxed faded pink leather. Chrysi reworked the pattern and got it looking and feeling cozy. I fixed a few fiddly technical problems with the mechanism. This old chair has a lot of stories and we're glad to be apart of it's new beginning.
