This was a kitchen & bathroom remodel. The kitchen had a panel drop ceiling with 4' fluorescent lighting. Once removed we fixed finished the original ceiling and replaced the lighting with an up-to-date round LED light in both the kitchen and the joining utility room.
As for the void space above the cabinetry, the original idea was to build a bulkhead, finish it with drywall and paint it. But then an idea was suggested to make an open-faced extension to the cabinets so that decorative things could be displayed. Dividing this open-faced concept at each set of cabinets was the route taken and they turned out wonderfully.
The bathroom had a good makeover as well. A new paint job, vanity light and mirror, towel rod, and toilet paper dispenser. The floor is vinyl click and lock planks.

This custom shower pan and tile work was subcontracted to Veteran Contractor LLC through Spot On Home Improvement as part of a full basement renovation.

This 42" x 40" shower had a servre slope of 2 7/8". The standard is a 1/4" per 12" from corner to drain. The drain is also typically in a central location of the shower pan. As you can see this shower has a drain in the front corner.

We replaced the blue drywall with cement board and afterwards taped and thinset the joints and corners.

We extended the drain base & drain up and used deck mud (4 to 1 sand cement) to build up and shape the shower pan to get the proper slope. The perimeter of the shower pan is leveled. The 1/4" per 12" slope is determined from the furthest corner which came out to 35". At 3 feet the slope should be 3/4" from corner to drain. The 3/4" slope is maintained from the entire perimeter to the drain. Which means the closer to the drain, the more defined that 3/4" slope becomes.

Once completely dry we apply 2 coats of a liquid membrane water proofing system to the shower pan and to the walls around the shower. We extended the liquid membrane beyond where the title will be installed on the walls for added water proofing protection outside the intended wet zone. This can later be painted over without issue.

All of the tile is then installed with edge trim up the vertical sides of the wall tiles to protect the tile from any damage.

All of the tile is then grouted with an unsanded grout.

All of the tile and surrounding areas are washed and dried clean.

And a tub and tile silicone is used to seal the entire shower grout lines and corners.

The step up into the shower, the floor, and the walls will later be painted.
