Sounds like we could be getting a decent amount snow this weekend. Here are some tips and concerns you might want to take into consideration.

1. Blizzards and ice/snow storms can cause power outages which can cause serious situations given cold temperatures.
2. It's good to insulate pipes as a precatuonary measure.
3. Let your taps drip slightly.
4. If a pipe does break make sure to shut off main water supply immediately.

It goes with out saying that fireplaces and woodstoves are handy during power outages.

1. Make sure you have a good stock pile of dry seasoned wood.
2. Make sure your flue and chimney are clean and acceptable for fire use.
3. NEVER use a cookstove or grill or generator inside your house to heat it.
4. Make sure fire detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are installed and working properly.

With the temperatures dropping to 20ﾟ this week we recommend the following to save your pipes from potentially freezing.

1. Keep your faucets dripping slightly.
2. Make sure any cabinets or closets with water lines inside of them are cracked open to allow warmer air inside.
3. Make sure water lines on exterior walls are not blocked by any items so that the heat from the room can keep them up to temperature.
4. Make sure all hoses are disconnected from your outside water spigots and that they are shut off to prevent them from freezing.
