Tree care tip or the day!
In the PNW, late winter is the ideal time to prune most deciduous trees (those that lose their leaves) and fruit trees. Because the trees are still dormant but getting ready to wake up, you can see the structure of the branches clearly without leaves getting in the way.
​Why do it now?
​Disease Prevention: Many fungi and bacteria are less active in the cold, reducing the risk of infection at the cut site.
​Rapid Healing: As soon as spring hits in a few weeks, the tree will flood the area with sap and growth hormones, sealing the "wound" quickly.
​Visibility: You can easily spot the 3 Ds: Dead, Damaged, or Diseased wood.
