It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Jack Miller, co-founder of Design Build Construction. He passed away on August 28th in Peru, Indiana where Jack had retired to.
In 1992, Jack and I were two friends with a shared vision and the belief that we could build a construction company of our own—and do things the right way. Together, we started Design Build Construction, never knowing just how much that decision would shape our lives and the lives of so many others over the years.
Jack and I complemented each other well. While I spent much of my time managing construction in the field, Jack ran the office and helped keep everything moving behind the scenes. He brought experience, leadership, and dedication to the company, but anyone who knew Jack knows he brought much more than that. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed being around people, and had a way of making the relationships we built just as important as the work itself.
Jack was an instrumental part of building Design Build Construction and establishing the reputation and foundation that we still carry forward today. After his retirement, his influence is still very much a part of this company today.
When I look back more than 30 years to when two friends decided to take a chance and start a construction company, there is a great deal to be thankful for. The projects we have built, the relationships we have formed, the people who have made their living here, and the opportunities we have today all trace back to those early years and what Jack started.
I am grateful not only for everything Jack contributed to Design Build Construction, but for his friendship, his humor, and all the years and memories we shared along the way. It was an honor to build this company alongside him.
My thoughts and prayers are with Leigh (Jack's daughter), his family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Thank you, Jack for what you started continues on, and you will always be a part of Design Build Construction.
