Being a handyman is like being a treasure hunter. You're bound to find hidden gems when you do this kind of work. Like this mystery band aid discovered while doing some unrelated drywall: looks like some sort of fix to a leaky P trap under a tub, that included adhesive, webbing, and the drywall itself. Dare not rip it off...

Back in October, I was one of about 30 skilled carpenters to be invited up to the north shore of Lake Superior to "cut timber" for the new welcome center at North House Folk School. Check out this story by Minnesota Public Radio on our work. (I worked on the French Lock Scarf Joint in the photo. I'll post more photos so you can see it in detail.)

The North House Folk School in Grand Marais is undergoing a $5 million campus expansion, part of a growth in traditional folk schools around the state as more people yearn for off-screen experiences working with their hands.

Finished refurbishing this garden bench. Sanded and painted the wrought iron, then replaced all the wood with Redwood I found on the 70% off rack at Lowes. I call that a win for giving this bench a new life.
