When we say dustless….we mean it.

Before we started, our client took the extra step of putting plastic up on the walls to protect their home, which we truly appreciate. But after just one day on the job, they were confident enough to take it down once they saw how little dust we actually produce.

Last week was all about cleaning up someone else’s mess. This is your reminder….not all contractors are created equal. When it comes to historic homes, experience matters. You can’t fake craftsmanship, and there’s no room for shortcuts.

This gorgeous antique heart pine floor was almost ruined by a contractor who simply didn’t know what they were doing. We had to tear out a brand new herringbone kitchen floor that was completely botched. The pattern was crooked, joints were gapped, ends didn’t lock, sanding was rough, and the finish was a disaster. The wood that was used didnt even come close to matching since it was new growth heart pine. It was never going to last.

Luckily, we were able to save all of the original flooring and finish it properly using a two-component hardwax oil. It’ll never need sanding again- just routine oil maintenance.

We’ll be back in a few weeks to install a new herringbone floor in the kitchen…the right way. If you’re working on an old home, don’t gamble. Choose a contractor with a proven track record. Your house deserves better.

I finally had the chance to finish the master bedroom in my personal home. The flooring is clear-grade quarter-sawn Northern white oak, wire-brushed and finished with two coats of ProCoat hardwax oil. We also added two new windows, shiplap, and trim, and my buddy Steven from Contractors Choice Painting took care of the painting.
