Today was one of those days that reminds me exactly why I started this business.
I had the opportunity to visit Lafayette Grimshaw Elementary for 2nd Grade Parent Career Day and speak with the kids about what I do for a living. I started with one simple question:
“Who likes going on vacation?”
Of course, every hand went up.
Then I explained to them that my job is helping families feel like they’re on vacation every single day, right in their own backyard. We talked about dream outdoor living spaces, fire pits, outdoor kitchens, pools, spas, turf, putting greens, water slides, in-ground trampolines, and yes… even zip lines.
The best part was watching their imaginations take over. I passed around paver samples and landscape stone samples, and then they each got to design their very own backyard paradise.
And let me tell you — these kids dream BIG.
I hung every single one of their designs up in my office, because honestly, they reminded me of the most important part of what we do: family.
When I started this business, family was the reason. Creating a better future for my family, serving other families, and building spaces where memories are made. Years later, that is still the heart behind every patio, pool area, fire pit, and backyard resort we design.
A backyard is never just a backyard.
It’s where kids grow up.
It’s where families gather.
It’s where stories are told, marshmallows are burned, birthday parties happen, and ordinary days turn into lifelong memories.
I’m incredibly thankful to God for another opportunity to share my passion, plant a few seeds, and maybe inspire the next generation to dream, create, build, and believe that anything is possible.

And today, these 2nd graders reminded me that the best designs always include one special ingredient:
